 Death of Dave

Heaven let new arrival Dave

Return to Earth so he could go

To the funeral that they gave.

Victim of a hit and run show,

Crossing that busy road, Dave tried,

But a ten ton truck flattened him

Before he reached the other side,

Unlucky Dave with his last whim.

But now Dave watched his family

By Reverend Rooster be assured

That Dave succeeded finally,

Reaching the other side occurred.

New angel, Dave, plays harp and sings,

Flies 'cross that road on chicken wings.

 Henry the Hen, My Collaborator

I visited the chicken pen

To collaborate a sonnet

With my pen pal, Henry the Hen,

Who clucked she would get right on it.

And right away began to scratch

"Eggs"actly the right words that came

To her quick mind in the dirt patch,

With her perfect poetic aim.

I thanked her for her help indeed.

In pecking order she would get

Top billing and prime chicken feed.

Best rhymer I had ever met.

Getting help on a rhyming notion,

Henry Hen be poultry in motion.

 Ever a Market

It is a market time and place

That began very early on,

Evolving of the human race,

A buy and sell phenomenon.

A lot of haggling always is,

The way of supply and demand,

Game playing in serious biz,

Buyers and sellers understand.

From low, from high, the price agreed.

Good game players do haggle well,

A popular market indeed,

Back and forth, trades haggled in hell.

Still an active market, be told,

Where just children are bought and sold.

 I Taught Achilles and Patroclus

Achilles and Patroclus were

Young, handsome boys who came to me.

Both be quite gifted students, sure,

Destined to Greek mythology.

Yes, I taught both the art of war,

But also of the healing art.

Two curious minds would learn more

Of truth to bind them close in heart.

Yes, a love grew, each had for each.

Their love, the future would debate.

I only tell, I loved to teach

Their gifts to use in future fate.

I, Chiron, the Centaur and taught

Both boys the good manhood they sought.

 Grandma Sang to Me

When I was three years old, I went

To live with Grandma for a while.

Just the two of us, so we spent

Many a time that made me smile.

Especially when Grandma sang

Sweet lullabies to wish good night,

With all her love in southern twang,

Always an end of day delight.

And then there came that night when she

Sang so sweetly, but sadly last

Special lullaby just for me.

Next morning, I learned Grandma passed.

I hope in death I'll have the choice

To once again hear Grandma's voice.

 Glasspianoitis

Princess Alexandria had

A glass piano inside her.

Now most did deem this princess mad.

Which I once thought, but now not sure,

Cuz I had dream the other night

That into my chest it did roll.

I opened wide my mouth in fright,

Swallowed a glass piano whole.

So now I cannot leave my bed,

Fear an internal shattering.

My wife believes me not, instead

Says I am just mad hattering.

And now my wife is just being mean,

Brought a bottle of Windex to clean.

 I Don't Smoke Anymore

I don't smoke except when you be

Not here, and I later find out

That you have been cheating on me.

And then I smoke a lot no doubt.

I don't smoke except when I feel

That loving you is just my dream,

And never will be a love real,

But just your latest pretend scheme.

I don't smoke except now when I'm

Watching you in our bed asleep.

When you cheated on me this time,

I made a promise, now I'll keep.

I don't smoke, a bad habit, true.

Set you on fire, now smoke you do.

 Cinderella Modernized

Once upon a modern time, bored

Cinderella, always online

Surfing through all the data stored

To find her true love, she did pine.

At Instagram Ball, to stand out,

He fairy godmother changed her

So she could catch her Prince no doubt,

Left glass slipper like to assure

That she would charm the Prince the most,

Turn two into one Web address.

And this modern couple would post

Happily ever after, yes!

Came out as a gay Prince is he.

 Mass Manipulated Mindset

However came the humankind

By God or un God on this Earth,

Such maker must now be of mind

Such an experiment is not worth

Ills caused to animals and plants

By humans, who choose to use will

To abuse every circumstance,

For a better world to fulfill.

Of course humans point fingers at

Each other for the blame all share

For sins upon Earth habitat,

Twisted between hope and despair.

 Sorry I Scared You

I tried to call you on the phone,

But when you didn't answer, knew

You'd told me that I'm on my own.

I wish I wasn't, but it's true.

I'm sorry that I broke your heart,

And left a scar to never heal.

I'd give anything to restart

Us again, but know it's unreal.

Now on a mountain road, I drive,

Passing a sign, ahead's a curve.

Better off if I'm not alive,

So over the cliffside I swerve.

I can't live without you, so I

Leave my last message of goodbye.

Waiting in purgatory for

Reincarnation hope, gee whiz,

Cuz they know they can count on me

 Party Rule

Example of a fascist state.

Nazis ruled in one party biz,

Causing lots of suffering fate.

Fascist is defined as far right.

But far left parties want the same.

To let parties be the prime tool,

Be the party with total rule,

And forever in power stay.

And my bright yellow petals do

Help me avoid any frost doom,

Putting poison in capsules, then

Put bottles back on store shelves, and

 Self Conscious

I had something to sell, so I

Set a meeting date on a whim.

Whereupon, he agreed to buy.

Something surprising about him,

So very self conscious he was

About his receding hairline.

Same self consciousness once was mine.

So to further my sales price goal,

I gave to him my best advice.

And to the devil, sold my soul,

And got for it, my asking price.

The arrangement we two agreed.

And provide him safe company.

He never tells her when she's wrong,

Though what she says is wrong a lot.

She speaks her mind on little stuff.

He listens to it all, in mind,

That he cares about them enough,

With all her talk, he will be kind,

Because for her, he be best one

To listen to all she might say,

But modern day, my claim to fame,

Most polluted by dirty biz.

Plants and animals that once thrived

Because of me, no longer do.

Very few of them have survived

All the pollution in me through

The carelessness of humankind,

Using me as a dumping site,

Out of their sight, out of their mind.

Hazards pour in me day and night.

Most polluted in the U.S.

River dying, humans care less.

 Manipulation

Always advice that I do share

To anyone I'm speaking to,

Of manipulators beware,

They tell just lies, never tell true.

Manipulation always is

Best way they try to trick you with

All their fancy smoke and mirror biz,

Filling you head full of just myth.

Manipulation warn I must,

To hope by them you won't be fooled.

I tell to you the truth to trust,

For on this subject I'm well schooled.

A politician, I so state,

Hoping I can manipulate.

 Droplet to Fall

In space I formed but do not fall

Until Mom Nature lifts her ground,

Letting me fall forth, it's her call,

When falling for you I am bound.

Right now where you are, there's a drought.

All around you is hot and dry.

I know you wish for me a lot.

Certainly, I understand why.

But please be patient, if you will.

It is just a matter of time,

My heart upon you, I will spill,

All for good reason, for good rhyme.

This rain droplet in space, I do

Await my chance to fall on you.

 My Unpardoned Interruption

I just had to interrupt them,

No apology that I did,

Causing a whole bunch of mayhem.

But after all, I'm just a kid,

And interrupt when I have got

Something very important to

Act in a manner, maybe not

Good manners, but still I must do.

They should understand, but instead

They were very upset with me,

That I had disturbed them in bed,

A welcome presence, I not be.

My interruption made them mad.

Now I'm grounded by Mom and Dad.

 I Wish Irish

I know that you don't like it when

I party at the pub all night.

You think my drinking is a sin,

Of course as any drunk's wife might.

Staggering from the pub I roam,

Hoping that maybe you'll not find

Me drunk again when I get home,

Becuz I know you won't be kind.

Open my eyes where I pass out,

See your scowled face, but in changed form.

You've shrunk, all dressed in green, no doubt,

Something is different from the norm.

You've turned into a leprechaun,

So if I blink, will you be gone?

 Our Golden Hour

Long wintry hours we come from.

Nature wakens our trees to

The springtime hour, so we come

Sprouting buddings all fresh and new

Upon our trees, set the scene

As summer hours lets us grow

Into maturity all green.

Then to autumn hour we go,

Knowing that change soon comes to us,

From color green to gold display.

Of course we leaves do never fuss,

Because it is just nature's way.

Accept, golden hour be we,

Nature's golden our  we be.

 We People Need to Understand

With the creation of the Earth,

First came all water, land and air.

Then Mother Nature felt it worth

Having plants and animals share.

Last of the animals to come

Were we the people, and too fast,

Behaved in manner worrisome

To Mother Nature, so at last

We wasted and ruined so much,

Mother Nature installed pure fear,

A stern ultimatum as such,

Behave better or disappear.

We people need to understand

We share all, water and land.

 Peony

I am a flower, peony,

Deemed by humans, good luck I bring.

Right now I am hosting a bee,

Who loves all my sweet nectaring.

And when the bee leaves, it will take

My pollen to spread all around,

Help for more of my kind to make.

And then I sense that you are bound

Right toward me, and I can guess why.

But as you sniff me, that bee might

Fly up your nose, so bid goodbye

To bee, now set for your delight.

I do bring lots good luck, I do,

Just brought for bee and me and you.

 Loser

It was a high stakes poker game,

One player on a winning streak,

A stranger, Jack was his first name.

Still, that big winning hand I'd seek,

But kept losing, last hand I'd bet

My home, and was a hand I lost.

My wife and kids left me, upset.

A losing poker hand had cost

Not just my home, but family.

I gambled all the best I had.

All around loser I did be.

The gambling bug, I had it bad.

My bluff, the stranger, Jack, did call,

And won that hand, I lost it all.

As? A question that my answer is,

Not caring to mind other's biz.

Lot of words said, lot of deeds done,

Some right, some wrong, some bad, some good.

People's memory of me is one

I don't change, even if I could.

 Shadowed by Death

Into a valley pasture green

I found myself one lovely day,

Such a natural beauty scene,

I decided a while to stay.

So a leisurely rest I took

Upon the grass and flowers by

A gently flowing babbling brook,

Watching white clouds roll through blue sky.

Then I was startled suddenly,

Threatened I had ignored all sign

This place was not welcome to me,

So dire consequence was all mine.

A stranger and trespasser, I,

The owner shot, was left to die.

By western lords, the world's been ruled.

Power and money instill fear.

Dissent and protest ridiculed.

But in the last decade there is

A shifting in the ruling game.

More at stake, playing dirty biz,

Fighting amongst western lords came.

Old alliances fell away,

Rotting within the team until

They forfeited due to decay.

The destiny, fate would fulfill.

"To Be Or Not To Be"

"To be or not to be," Shakespeare

Made this famous in Hamlet play.

Will also was famed sonneteer.

Maybe I too can be someday

Good sonneteer, I want to be,

Bad sonneteer, want not so much.

Bunches of sonnets are in me,

Some turn out good, some bad as such.

In Shakespeare's league, most likely not.

But try and try again, I spill

Ink, pouring my sonnets a lot,

Hoping be good one, next one will.

To be or not to be good sonnet,

I'm sure gonna work hard on it.

Watching my child through the years grown.

And in school always performs well,

Which is of course to my delight.

But one night's homework, I could tell

My child's laziness did show through.

Lots of errors done fast and loose.

And my child wanted me to do

The dog ate the homework excuse.

My child does know that such does irk,

So would not eat my child's homework.

So many tales of whales there be

Told to all in prose and in song

Of the largest "fish" in the sea.

But technically, such tales be wrong

When a whale as a fish is called.

Even in Bible's Jonah tale,

When Jonah's swallowing befalled

By a "big fish," in truth a whale.

So as I sit on a ship's bow,

And see a giant whale go by,

Indeed a tale to tell somehow

About a whale up in the sky.

I told my tale, all thought absurd,

Largest mammal turned largest bird!

Created in the Aztec mind,

The Follower in night sky far

Of demons bound for humankind,

Seeking to catch them before they

Could reach and demonize the earth.

Built pyramids to worship worth

Of Aldebaran to at last

Catch and destroy the demon plan,

Before reaching the earth to cast

Doom o'er Aztecs place and time span.

As Spaniards came and destroyed them.

For letting me just say, "Hello."

And hope you are a person who

And then take part in this contest.

There is a fairy tale of old,

Three pigs, and a house each did build

Of straw, of wood, of bricks, retold

With a different ending fulfilled.

The tree houses left empty when

Off to market did go each pig.

The houses were foreclosed on then.

At the market, having grown big,

All of the three pigs found themselves

Each taking on a change of name,

And put up front on a shop's shelves.

Once pigs, but now pork chops became.

These three pigs ended up in this tale

Daily special in butcher shop sale.

 Aging with Right in Mind

All throughout this life I have had,

I know what ten commandments say.

Mostly I'm good, a little bad,

And keep in mind for Judgement Day.

So, as I get older, I try

To be good more and be bad less,

Cuz I should know better is why.

How God will count, just have to guess.

Most my bad done when I was young,

God maybe gives allowance for.

But now old me, by deed and tongue,

Likely God expects good much more.

So when at Pearly Gates I be,

Sure hope God's Judgement's for entry.

Then he with me gives each the shock

Of their lives, when they feel mayhem,

As with me, flesh is ripped and torn.

Be discovered next early morn.

Such finality, maybe find

Wannabe bad ones might think twice,

Taking the chance of going where,

But when drunk, I know I'm in store

Often for discomfort in me.

And so stabbed Caesar to display

So I did bad for good excuse,

So the blame is really on her.

Money I stole was for good use.

So my bad did some good for sure.

"My bad ... but it?" I yelled loud.

"It is, so jump," yelled back the crowd.

 Consequence

He is in a bad time and place,

Picture of her spread on their bed.

Both hands he holds against his face,

Tears from his  eyes, bloodshot red.

She told him, he'd broken her heart,

Let their marriage crumble away.

Now she needed to be apart

From him and left their home today.

No rant and rave, a quiet she

Just told him they need take a pause.

At her parent's house she would be.

Of course he knew she had good cause.

A bad decision made for sure,

When he did choose to cheat on her.

 I'm Waiting

With welcome basket, I now wait

For my sailor to arrive home.

Each time I do this, fret the fate

He'll not return from his long roam

Around the world, upon the seas.

Hopefully, my sailor returns,

As I await, eager to please

With my welcome, I know he yearns.

I think my sailor's ship soon should

Arrive in port, not just sure when.

So day by day, I feel it's good

To await, again and again.

For my sailor, I wait with some

Welcoming home bottles of rum.

 Just My Luck

I'm deemed the seamen good luck charm,

So in a trap myself got caught

By ship of fools who caused me harm.

I was made to suffer a lot.

So my bad luck I chose to share.

No good luck for this ship from me,

As this ship's crew was unaware

That my comrades in wings did be

Flying by thousands from above,

Catching this ship's crew by surprise,

By landing with such impact of

Causing the whole ship to capsize.

Albatross 'round this ship crews' neck,

I got my payback, what the heck!

 Hope Lives Eternal

"Man cannot live by bread alone,"

Jesus did say when tempted by

The devil to turn bread from stone.

Jesus chose not to do so. Why?

Yes, He was hungry in the wild,

And knew such power, yes He had.

But because Jesus be God's Child,

Such use of power would be bad,

Giving the devil food for goal

To prove that Jesus only be

Just another false, selfish soul,

Hopeless of God's divinity.

And Jesus proved the devil wrong,

Kept hope in God, steadfast and strong.

 Your Diamond Girl

Your Diamond Girl you call me, and

Say I am precious, say I shine.

Such a nickname, I understand,

And certainly does suit me fine.

Your Diamond Girl, I'm rare for you,

A radiant, beautiful child.

You very much like that I do

Like a lot to be roaming wild.

Your Diamond Girl, you say you could

Another like me never find.

All of this from you sounds so good.

So just one question on my mind.

If your Diamond Girl I do be,

How 'bout buying diamonds for me?

Home and Land of the Dumbing Down

We the people of U.S.A.

Keep letting elites, right and left,

Keep dumbing us down, the elites' way

To give elites all the more might.

Of course elites do shift around,

Whichever side best trick and lie,

Gets the more people dumber bound.

We've got dumb in endless supply.

Future elites will make a deal,

Of course at such elites do scoff,

Smarter foreigns await for real,

Will buy left or right elites off.

This fact to China, most welcome,

U.S.A. just getting more dumb.

 I Fret Not

Into an evil land I be

Born, but the Bible taught me young,

Truth and righteousness is in me,

Beware of wicked act and tongue.

And yes, through many years I live,

The wickedness looms all around.

The Lord within me helps forgive

My questioning of where I'm bound.

I feel I am a chosen one,

Blessed by the Lord to trust His path

To walk until this life is done,

For salvation from evil's wrath.

Patient in this evil land, I

Live righteously until I die.

 Cracked Up from Cracked Down

My ulna bone is feeling sad

Over a healing not gone well,

Concerning a break that it had,

And needs resurgery, do tell.

Since for this, I will be knocked out,

I've called upon my funny bone,

My humerus, some jokes to shout,

Lightening up my whole arm zone.

Maybe having a little fun

Will ease my ulna's sad a bit,

While surgery is being done.

A few bone jokes could be a hit.

Hopefully, my ulna bone will

Laugh at jokes my humerus spill.

 Trust Disgust

"Trust me, trust me, trust me," all ask,

While promising all that and this,

To try to garner our trust task.

Gullible babies, they all kiss

Us with their lips that flap a lot

Out of their mouths, whichever side

Gets most support from us they've sought,

To trust in all the stuff they've lied.

We should have learned the truth by now.

The only trust in them we need,

Is sooner or later, somehow,

They all earn mistrust by misdeed.

All politicians beg for trust,

Whenever given, later cussed.

 Blue Lagoon

The Blue Lagoon in Iceland be

Self cleansing ecosystem that

Does welcome the public like me

To share its soothing habitat.

A winter evening that I sought

To soak some in these waters with

Connection to history I've got,

Contributing to human myth

That Vikings to Valhalla bound,

Found portal underwater here.

Volcanic mountains all around,

Old lava field, flow to appear.

Weather is faint dark blue and warm

Within this lagoon's calming charm.

 Redecorate My Room

Redo my room does come to mind.

Cover the ceiling and the floor.

A lot of it, I need to find.

Cover all the walls and the door.

And of course, must cover my bed.

Use it for sheets and blankets to

Keep them from getting in my head.

With lots of it, I can redo

My room to block out their mayhem

That they want to be causing me.

Redo my room with it stops them.

All throughout my room it must be.

Just tin foil will protect me well,

Keep me safe in my padded cell.

 No Longer My Excuse

I used to drink an awful lot,

Became an addiction for me,

And very handy when I sought

An excuse for the wreck I be.

Whenever so badly I stunk

At what I'd thought and what I'd done,

I would remind I was a drunk.

That's why I was the guilty one.

Just another crutch for drinking,

The victim role I would self cast.

Not at fault was my wrong thinking.

I got help, got sober at last.

Thinking and doing right, my aim.

Wrong drunk, I can no longer blame.

 Young Gardener

In our poor neighborhood is

A community garden where

I am learning a lot, gee whiz,

On growing plants with loving care.

My Mom and Dad say that I will,

Even though only eight years old,

Learn from them good gardening skill.

In heart and mind and hands I hold

The hope to help turn just bare ground,

With time and effort, to make true,

Fruits, veggies and flowers abound.

I am so proud of this I do.

A young gardener I do be,

Helping to feed my family.
