Sense Sonnet - Acher

 Loser

It was a high stakes poker game,

One player on a winning streak,

A stranger, Jack was his first name.

Still, that big winning hand I'd seek,

But kept losing, last hand I'd bet

My home, and was a hand I lost.

My wife and kids left me, upset.

A losing poker hand had cost

Not just my home, but family.

I gambled all the best I had.

All around loser I did be.

The gambling bug, I had it bad.

My bluff, the stranger, Jack, did call,

And won that hand, I lost it all.
