 My Tale of the Tiger

The wife told me, "Take a hike, dear,"

After the wife did tell me that

No dangerous animals here

In this wild jungle habitat.

Shortly after a tiger be

Proof the wife told me an untruth,

As it crouched just ten yards from me,

Ready to pounce with claw and tooth.

I'm not in real good shape so I

Chose not to climb a tree or run.

I think the tiger thought I'd try,

Giving a show to watch for fun.

I have a lot of fatty meat,

So I was chosen not to eat.

 Fox Talks

"What does the fox say?" - asks the song.

The questioner need ask a fox,

Who knows what answer's right or wrong.

Need find one who willingly talks,

Cuz foxes tend to be quite shy,

Especially 'round human kind.

Come politely to me and I

Will answer you, I sure don't mind.

I am a fox who believes that

I can judge when a human's good.

Visit me in my habitat,

I'll talk and will be understood.

"What does the fox say?" - ask me and

I'm sure I'll make you understand.

 Loss and Gain

My true love in the street was struck

And killed in a bad accident.

She was hit by a bakery truck.

When I heard, off to her I went,

Following bread crumbs down the street,

Until at last I came to her,

My saddest journey to complete.

I would miss my true love for sure.

There soon came animal control,

And shortly after she was gone.

But then I found another goal,

Bread crumbs, this pigeon did move on.

Life's ups and downs never ceases.

I'm still pecking up the pieces.

 Lesson Not Learned

"No Man is an Island," quote by

John Donne who sermonized that each

Of us, part of the whole, need try

Learn true togetherness and teach

Social responsibility

Forward to descendants or face

Extinction of humanity

Spreading throughout all time and place.

Seventeenth century of Donne

Only bequeathed more war and hate.

Now in century twenty one

Exterminate piecemeal the fate.

The bells of death for each do call

Out inhumanity of all.

 Cassandra

Princess of Troy Cassandra be

Loved by the god, Apollo, who

Gave her the gift of prophecy,

Expecting Cassandra to do

His bidding and return his love.

When she refused then with displease

Apollo added a curse of

Disbelief of her prophecies.

Later Greece attacked Troy to get

Helen's return and in deceit

Used a big wooden horse to let

Troy be tricked into a defeat.

Cassandra warned about this horse.

Troy did not believe her of course.

 Maze Daze

After a few drinks on a dare,

Into a cornfield maze I went,

Gulping from a flask while in there,

Made for a most confused event.

Through the paths I did weave and bend,

But no matter what turn I took,

Kept arriving at a dead end,

Feeling more and more of a schnook.

It sure seemed like a hopeless task.

I yelled, hoping somebody hears

Thank goodness that I had my flask,

Cuz only the corn walls had ears.

I wandered 'round that field for days,

Truly an amazing maize maze.

 In the Water

The powers that be want to stay

In power so do seek the goal,

Over powerless masses they

Can exact complete mind control.

We the people must think that we

Are supporting the right and good

Against the wrong and bad that be

Trying to harm us if they could.

So how and what we think is known

By the powers that be as prime

To having no real thoughts our own,

And stay powerless all the time.

Brainwashing how and what we think,

It's in the water that we drink.

 Return

I checked into Hazbin Hotel,

Charlie Morningstar's V.I.P.

Brief stopover to heaven from hell,

Rehabilitated to be.

Hotel manager, Charlie, got

Heaven to agree to forgive

Me for prior sinning a lot,

And return to heaven to live.

It really is all just a ploy

For me to arise from my fall.

Getting revenge I will enjoy,

And punish heaven, one and all.

To heaven for surprise attack,

I, Lucifer, will soon be back.

 Found and Lost

Little Jackie Paper found me

When just a baby dragon, I

Let Jackie take me by the sea.

Because I oft blew smoke was why

Little Jackie did call me Puff.

And best of playmates we two were.

The two of us did share enough

Best fun in time and place for sure.

The togetherness that we had

I thought forever would go on.

But then did come that day so sad,

Little Jackie Paper was gone.

Big Jackie Paper now all grown

Left me by the sea all alone.

 Slay Say

St. George slew the dragon be told

By the humans for centuries.

The dragon slew St. George, an old

Tale 'tween dragons shooting the breeze.

So the real truth of who was slain,

Just St. George and the dragon know.

But most likely none will obtain

From either the truthful info.

The dragon and St. George agreed

To let each of their kind do tell

Which one did do the slaying deed.

For both, this seemed to work out well.

Over tea and biscuits the two

Oft reminisce of who slew who.

 A Priceless Gift

Sitting alone on a bench, I

Waited for the bus now quite late.

Every few minutes I would sigh,

Bemoaning my unlucky fate.

A car passed in this time and place.

In the back window a young girl,

We shared a moment face to face.

I noticed she had not a curl,

Hairless most likely because of

Treatment for some cancer she had.

For that moment I felt her love.

My outlook turned to good from bad.

A gift to me from this young child,

Who passing by me waved and smiled.

 Yoga Mates

Granny does yoga to stay fit,

Doing it with her dog, Danny,

Who knows it is of benefit

For body and mind of Granny.

The two have matching blue mats that

Are set on the lawn side by side,

Upon which the two work out at

Positioning in stretching stride.

Yoga helps Danny to stay lean,

Granny's vim and vigor restores

Doing daily yoga routine,

And finishing up on all fours.

After the two have done their stretch,

They will go play a game of fetch.

 Tortoise to My Rescue

His name is Jack, my name is Jill.

To fetch a pail of water, we

Did have to climb up a steep hill.

Jack with pail started down, but he

Stumbled and down the hill he fell.

All bruised and battered poor Jack was.

Jack certainly did not look well.

I was very concerned becuz

Back down that hill I had to go.

Soon after though my calm restored.

My green knight, a tortoise, did show,

Inviting me to jump aboard.

I'm riding my tortoise downhill,

Slow go so we don't take a spill.

 Another Self Portrait

Another self portrait of me

Painted in 1889.

Somewhat different it did be.

I was without an ear of mine,

Which with a razor I'd sliced off.

So with a bandage covered up

And portrait showed no bloody trough,

Thus needing lots of red paint, yup.

The bandage covered half my face.

As being winter I did wear

A blue fur cap to keep in place

That bandage, a reminder there.

No severed ear portrait pursuit,

I gave it to a prostitute.

 Dressed for Breakfast

The early bird catches the worm.

How 'bout the early dragonfly?

Well, this dragonfly can affirm

Early morn there's a good supply

Of insects crawling on the plants.

And insects are what I do eat.

So it's not just by happenstance

That on a plant's planted my feet

At break of dawn for breakfast time,

As unsuspecting bugs come to

My jaws, and sunlight shows that I'm

Glistening in early morn dew.

Early mornings are good times when

Lots of tasty bugs "dew drop" in.

 Bait Source

I'm in my small boat on the lake

And see some bulrushes I seek.

That's where there is the bait to take,

Cuz delish to fish so to speak.

In the bulrush stalk holes there be

Home to a beetle grub that is

The best bait that's been found by me

For success in my fishing biz.

The bulrushes I paddle through,

And pull from each the grubs therein,

Getting a bunch, and then off to

Mid lake for fishing to begin.

Bulrushes as bait source are nice

Cuz they don't charge me any price.

 Headache Cure

Becuz I was a girl you said

I had no faith in medicine.

My headache was just in my head,

Cure be acetaminophen,

To which I've got an allergy.

But take it you insisted still

As being the sure cure for me,

Better than any sugar pill,

Which is all that you'd need to take,

Being I'm just your girl so sweet,

Who watches you with her headache,

Leave her and walk on down the street.

But when you left me, it was weird,

My headache quickly disappeared.

 My Favorite Soup

The male swallow bird made the nest,

Strands of salivary cement.

Limestone cave location is best.

When all swallow birds are absent

The nest is harvested, and then

Soaked in cool water overnight.

Add some red dates and sugar in,

Then simmer till the nest tastes right,

A gelatinous texture fine,

And should taste delicately sweet.

Served warm when I'm ready to dine.

I can't wait to begin to eat.

Chinese cuisine delicacy,

This bird nest soup yum yum for me.

Two Houses, One Big, One Small

The biggest house in the U.S.

Built by George Vanderbilt and named

The Biltmore Estate with address,

Asheville,  North Carolina, famed.

Grandsons, George and William called home.

Around thousands of acres they

In the "backyard' would romp and roam.

One of their fav'rite spots to play

Was in a little treehouse which

Provided each the simple joys,

Escape from the lives of the rich,

Each being ordinary boys.

Biltmore House, the boys could care less,

The biggest house in the U.S.

 Semper Augustus

Semper Augustus I was named.

Rarest tulip in Holland I

Had crimson flares on white and famed

As most coveted tulip, why?

It's just how greedy humans be.

In 1637 there

Was tulipmania for me.

I made markets crash everywhere,

As fortunes were bid to obtain

Me, the priciest flower known.

Over me humans went insane.

Sadly, my fame got overblown.

A virus was in bulbs of mine,

And killed off my genetic line.

 Reckoning

The home and all we've ever known

Came under a bloody attack,

Turning peace into a war zone.

The fires burned red and smoke rose black.

Some of us farmers far afield

Returned to friends and family,

Their bodies charred, their fate was sealed.

We went after the enemy.

Farmers into warriors we turned.

Hands holding plows now held the sword.

In each of us avenging burned,

As to destiny we marched toward.

To home and all we bid farewell,

And bid hello to coming hell.

 Grandma Twins

Two grandma twins do love to dance.

Each morning in their p.j.s they

Join in the kitchen for the chance

To kick their feet to start their day.

Oldies but goodies, the twins groove

To the beat of the radio.

Around the kitchen the two move,

Putting on quite an awesome show.

Four slippers, two pink and two blue

Glide gracefully across the floor.

Making breakfast they soon will do,

But get some dancing in before.

In happy mode each grandma twin,

Letting all the grandkids sleep in.

 Sonnet Server

Writing sonnets Wil Shakespeare would

Always get writer's block, so he

Would seek my help since I was good

At writing sonnets perfectly.

All Will needed to do was take

Me in his hand and I would write

Another fine sonnet to make,

As Will would watch me in delight.

That Will took credit mattered not.

I knew for him sonnets were hard.

It was my duty to be sought

To be of service to the Bard.

I'm only happy that this quill

Was there to help writer blocked Will.

 Oil Spill Disaster

Hubby insisted that he could

Change himself the oil in the car.

I knew this would not turn out good.

Under the engine he rolled thar,

And yelled to me he found the plug,

Unscrewing it so to let out

The old oil and I heard, "glug glug,"

The sound of draining oil no doubt.

But from under the car then I

Could hear from there no further sound.

I called but there was no reply.

That was becuz Hubby had drowned.

Do it himself was Hubby's foil,

Open mouth under draining oil.

 Beside a River

Alone beside a river, I

Sat and did watch the waters flow,

Joined by my tears as I did cry,

Because I missed my true love so.

We had a fight and ways did part.

I came to the river where first

We had sat and bonded in heart,

And love for each other did burst.

Since then, many a time we'd sat

At this river, but now alone

Only I was here feeling that

The fault for this was all my own.

Suddenly, at the river be

My love who sat down next to me.

 Gaslight

1940's film "Gaslight" be

When the term of to gaslight came.

A wife fears for her sanity

And her husband's lies are to blame.

The husband does manipulate

Bright and dim of their home gaslights,

Then tells his wife she's in ill state

When she questions the altered sights.

I feel sorry for this poor wife.

I can't even imagine this,

Thinking over my married life,

I'm full of sanity and bliss.

I've never been gaslighted cuz

My husband says I never was.

 More Than a Whisper

Fame author, Toni Morrison,

Was called "Bird Whisperer" by some.

At her New York home she was one

Who whispered that birds were welcome.

But for all birds she had one rule,

That when they came to visit her,

They should avoid dropping their stool,

Making her home a mess for sure.

Did she whisper this she was asked?

"No," she replied, she needed to

Be somewhat louder as she tasked

A shotgun for this task to do.

Shooting a few rounds in the air,

Birds got the hint not to poop there.

 EV Anxiety

An electric vehicle I

Bought though really not wanting to.

The government forced me was why.

There was nothing else I could do.

The electric company will

Soon stop my electricity.

I cannot afford the huge bill

Plugging in the car causes me.

And wherever I drive the car,

I wonder if a plug in's there.

Right now I have not driven far.

Into a dead end street I err.

Could kick myself when I forget

To drive somewhere with an outlet.

 Scales of Battle

Black Burner flew in from the north.

Red Burner flew in from the south.

Aerial fight set to fume forth,

Streaming of spitfire from each mouth.

Circling each other in the sky,

Getting a measure of each worth.

Up in the clouds the two did fly,

A fight to death high above earth.

When the maneuvering was done,

Each charged the other to complete

This battle fierce waged one on one,

To victory or to defeat.

The two engulfed in fiery breath,

Dueling dragons fell to their death.

 Speak No Evil

"Speak No Evil" is my nickname

That Daddy long ago gave me,

And taught me evil is to blame,

First being said then done to be.

So if no evil I did speak,

Then hopefully I'd not be led

To the next step and strive to seek

To do the evil I had said.

I often find that evil does

Be inside me ready to burst.

But I don't do the evil cuz

I do not speak that evil first.

I spoke evil when I was young

And mad Daddy cut out my tongue.
