To Heal or Not

The child with fever will not eat.
Free modern clinics are nearby.
The parents choose old ways to treat,
Paying a week's earning to try
To cure as always has been done.
To the healer the child does go.
The teeth are yanked out one by one.
The child is in agony so.
Sometimes the child gets better, and
Sometimes it's God's will the child die.
This the parents do understand.
The parents do not question why.

If the child does survive and grows,
This is the way that the child knows.

Devil in the Details

The devil showed up at a school.
Some say that God is barred from such.
Cuz blood does sell - that is a rule,
The devil hands a bloody touch
And snuffs out young sweet innocence,
Knowing that media will swoop
To cover the pained consequence,
Competing for the latest scoop.
The devil knows to count upon
The media to spread the news,
That wherever God may have gone,
The devil's here collecting dues.

The media is quick to sell
The devil's handiwork of hell.

Pygmy Mole Cricket

Pygmy mole crickets - now the buzz
About the human check this out.
The humans are excited cuz
We bugs jump from water - no doubt!
This Burrows dude, an at lunch prof
Saw and heard at a pond a bunch
Of us hopping from water off.
He grabbed us (We thought we were lunch)
But he took us back to the lab,
And made us star in a movie,
Showing our back legs can grab
A ball of water and then spring free.

We have water jumped eons so,
But humans just got the memo.

Except against the other foe.
Merry Christmas is picked apart.
It must mean this. It must mean that.
One smashes the other's shopping cart.
Both sides keep up a constant spat.
The left and right have made a deal,
No matter what the season tiz,
To bicker back and forth in spiel,
Becuz it's good for both side's biz.

The right and left are all about
Disturbing Peace on Earth - no doubt!

Gift of Hope

The stories told of doing good
Often end as just fairy tales.
But that does not mean that I should
Not try when possible avails.
Passing a beggar in the street,
Begging for some money for food.
Is it really a need to eat,
Or just some moral turpitude?
Decide to give money or not,
But if I give, I just walk on,
Hoping that some good may be brought.
I do not wait to judge upon.

I only want to know my role,
In sharing good from soul to soul.

Just saying, "Liar, liar, nose on fire,"
To a politician needs more.
Use mass media to inspire
Detection as those lies do pour.
Heat sensitive cameras could
Capture pol's noses turning red,
As body temps rise as they should,
When from the mouths those lies are said.
The more pols lie about their lies,
The redder their noses would get.
Viewers would be all the more wise
Of politicians - wanna bet!

Red nosed politicians need be
Exposed for what they are - we see.

Finger pointing with lip grandstand,
From both sides of the party pack.

Still has found time in the past
To use the public ear and eye
To focus on folks found downcast.

The woman's reproductive right.
But no such support is there for
Jon Hammar, a U.S. Marine,
Who has been victimized galore
By the Mexican crime machine.

C'mon Mr. President - be
Supportive, help get Hammar free.

A Work in Distraction

While at work what does distract me?
Inquiring minds just have to know.
Am I too tired or too hungry?
Is email a distracting woe?.
I'm told I need to concentrate
On concentrating on my job,
Or unemployed will be my fate,
Cuz I am wasting time a gob.
To note how bad distraction is,
Survey firms are fully a lurk.

Working on why I hardly work.

I'm distracted, least once a day,
To take a distraction survey.

Johnny Manziel

Johnny Manziel, his first year won
The Heisman Trophy for football.
Texas A&M Aggies son,
A freshman  who did play his all.
Before this season, Johnny had
Some misdemeanors with the law,
A turning point for good from bad,
Arrest record to one of awe
Upon the playing field, where he
Broke records in the college game,
And changed his life, forever be.
"Johnny Football" is his nickname.

From past mistakes the kid did learn
Do bad, do good - get what you earn.

A Growing Why?

A mother's murdered by her son,
Who wants to hurt her even more,
And so he goes armed with a gun,
And sneaking through an open door
Into the school where she had taught
The little ones in lower grade.
But now big targets, they were caught
In a hell that the young man made.
Sons and daughters he shot and killed,
By his hand from a mind gone mad,
In a sick son where evil willed
To turn good time and place to bad.

Too many children get to know
That some grow up with evil so.

And nature will be reconciled.
But if that happens, so's the chance
That I will not see life too long,

Hobbits

The Hobbits lived in Middle Earth,
From J.R.R. Tolkien's mind,
A fiction that became real worth
Among the modern humankind.
With words, "In a hole in the ground..."
Tolkien took the Hobbits to
Fight the evils that do abound,
But good can triumph if held true.
We young (and old) of heart could go
To escape from the today strife,
With little friends against big foe,
And be a part of Hobbit life.

Remember Us

Remember us, this time, this place,
As chosen ones to be God's way
To let will in the human race
Be as so evil as it may.
Remember us for love we shared,
For hopes and dreams that were for good.
The bad did come and we were scared.
But God came too. We knew God would.
Remember us as children who,
At the end in an angel's breath,
Could feel God's comfort, and we knew
No more fear, no more pain in death.

From heaven, angels came and took
Us home to God from Sandy Hook.

Except that gift that can be done.
Such a gift made anonymous,
Putting at risk the donor some,
Should truly inspire all of us,
Of good a human can become.

Have integrity built right in,
And do nothing that God forbade.
But God found out most humans sin.
This experiment, God allowed,

In the not so good humanhood.

At some point God will likely say,
"Time for humans to go away."

And when exposed, there's such a waste,
And all who've been led have to pay.

Fallen leaders may not cause war,
But they sure cause gossip galore.

Payamore

Sheldon Adelson, billionaire,
One percenter of one percent.
Most of his billions he did snare
While Obama was President.
Just one American, he's got
More wealth than do millions combined.
Will his have go to the have not?
Redistribution frets his mind,
And so he spends to try to keep
The fat fruits of his money tree.
Politicians talk him knee deep
In fertilizing promise be.

All the cash Adelson can spend
Will buy him nothing in the end.

Pendulum Anomaly

There's a solar eclipse theory
That Yang and Wang did theorize,
A pendulum anomaly,
Way over my head - no surprise.
So as a solar eclipse came,
I dragged out my grandfather's clock,
With its pendulum, and did aim
It at the sun. It did tick tock.
The eclipse - all around went dark.
What would that pendulum now do?
For science I would make my mark.
Perhaps a Nobel Prize - who knew!

I will report to Yang and Wang.
My grandfather clock stopped dead - dang!

Service to Nation

War weary America won't
Support a draft anytime soon.
Most American loved ones don't
Have to serve in harm's way platoon.
But mandatory service would
Maybe make America be
Better example of what should
Be home of the brave and the free.
Such service isn't just for war,
But to help in the times of peace.
Manmade troubles are more and more.
Mother Nature's wrath does not cease.

Americans need understand.
What service really is - first hand.

Terms of Enrichment

Climate change - now the p.c. way
To call Mom Nature's weather woes.
Global warming - so yesterday.
Mouths spew warnings - nobody knows.
Most of politicians' hot air
On the climate is to cash in.
Al Gore is now a zillionaire
For selling all his hype and spin.
Sandy cane hit a time and place.
The voters there were weather warned.
And status quo still won the race.
Mom Nature - not one to be scorned.

Mom Nature's wrath - ever will be.
Talk is a waste of energy.
