Facebook - Base Nook

Being an adult, I can do
Anything I want to have fun.
And I want to show this fun to
Pump my ego to anyone.
Facebook gives me a forum for
Showing off my latest fun had,
Breaking Ten Commandments galore:
Cursing, lying, stealing - my bad.
Dissing the folks for dying broke.
After I killed them, I found out
They'd spent it all - on me that joke.
But that's what Facebook's all about.

I strive to be a perfect fool,
And Facebook is the perfect tool.

Heartless

Love and marriage have had their times
Of ups and downs, centuries past.
But soon they will be charged as crimes
Against the state and will not last,
As the corporate life evolves,
Usurping power globally,
The human condition dissolves
Into improved technology.
Test tube procreation will start
The human cycle. In between,
To still all matters of the heart,
Programs run the "human" machine.

In the 21st century,
Love and marriage no more will be.

$ick

I, Osama bin Laden, am
Doing my latest tirade tape
'Cause the dollar is worth my damn.
We should no longer bow and scrape
Before the dollar no mighty,
No more the false god once all thought.
Now just a dying currency,
Stained in the blood that it has bought.
Let's do the world biz dollarless.
Osama currency sounds nice.
I've ordered up a printing press
On Ebay - selling at half price.

As I sit here and rant and rave,
The dollar does paper my cave.

De - Big

The "too big to fail policy"
Is a government dreamed up scheme
To let behemoths ever be,
With some tactics to make it seem
The government really sides with
The little guy and small is good.
That feigned concern is just a myth
To try to keep the voterhood
Placated in repeat false sense.
If anything reaches that scale
Of anti-public consequence,
Break it up before it can fail.

Too big Ma Bell bid her farewells,
Then broke into the Baby Bells.

Sell Well

Air America bids bye bye,
Blaming a bad economy.
But then one asks the question why
Radio liberals cannot be
Like radio conservatives -
Thriving well over broadcast air.
Loads of ear liberals - what gives?
Nothing to do with being fair.
The answer is the biz of sell -
To get consumers to buy more.
Rush etal. have it down so well.
To libs, commercials are a chore.

Conservative talk radio
Can sell bikinis in the snow.

School Spirit

I teach a college course on ghosts.
A graduate student, I am
Not given to a lot of boasts,
But students flock to my program,
And they don't seem to mind at all
That I am not a full prof yet.
They fill the largest class room hall,
Competing to be teacher's pet.
Though an elective course, there is
A long waiting list to enroll.
Teaching about ghosts is good biz
To help a high enrollment goal.

While getting my own PHD,
I teach about ghosts - about me.

Swinging

Americans swing forth and back,
Swinging like a pendulum do.
There's really no way to keep track
If forth is false or back is true.
Politics in the government
With parties and bureacracy
Push hard the swing of discontent.
That's where the source of power be.
The public swings to this, then that
As power seekers each take turns
Adding layers of pork and fat
While the tired public chokes and churns.

If we, the people, would swing less,
Then more stable good could progress.

Moon Money

The U.S. should claim the whole moon
As a U.S. possession owned.
And then for a financial boon,
Take the national debt that's loaned
By mostly foreigners, and sell
Off the moon in chunks to repay
All that debt. Of course then, oh well,
The pols will continue to play
Fast and loose with spending the cash,
That once was backed by real gold bars,
But now by nothing. We'll spend rash
'Til we have to claim and sell Mars.

The gold standard once used to be.
The moon rock standard? Possibly!

Gender Bender

To behave like a lady or
To behave like a gentleman
Should be an instilled value for
Parenting a daughter or son.
There is never any excuse
For bad manners by he or she,
And that includes gender abuse,
If that is the intent really.
Perhaps one day we will evolve
Into female and male combined.
Gender pettiness - that might solve,
But new pettiness we would find.

It is bad manners to be rude,
Whether the source be babe or dude.

Lord on Board

The Great Depression lived on luck
Of how F.D.R. threw the dice.
Experimenting with the buck,
Not really sure how high the price.
Spending on stuff to stimulate,
With money that did not exist.
Seemed to some such a nonsense fate.
But F.D.R. rolls did persist
Until at last - recovery.
F.D.R. the winner took all
Herb Hoover for eternity
Will be blamed for dropping the ball.

From the Great Depression it came -
Monopoly, the dice board game.

Battlestar Apple

Humans are ever on the cheap,
Looking for ways to cheat and steal.
As is said, you sow what you reap.
Rip off Apple and you pay for real.
Cylons patrol the Apple line,
Seeking out pirates that don't pay.
For first offense, a dollar sign
Is branded on skin for display.
The next offense is frakkin' bad.
You're zapped into the cyberspace,
And show up on someone's ipad -
A cylon selling face to face.

Apple has ways to make you buy.
You thought Steve Jobs was just a guy?

Buy U.S.A.

China buying U.S.A. oil?
Why should we Americans fret?
Patriotic blood did not boil
In piling up enormous debt,
Owing China a trillion bucks
Because we let gov leaders spend
And spend and spend and just said, "Shucks,"
"The U.S. is too big to end!"
But we are heading to a close
Of the way of life we have known.
It's our fault because we chose
To spend away all that we own.

It's China now with cash to burn.
The U.S.A. has had its turn.

Wish Oh Well

Holiday in Hawaii for
Rush Limbaugh and the President.
But not together - nevermore.
No love is lost between each gent.
Rush is rushed in emergency
To the hospital with chest pain.
The President shows up to be
A well wisher to his ill bane.
Rush fears he's in liberal hell.
A heart attack has left him dead.
But he's assured he's live and well.
And President Obama said,

"I do hope your chest pains do pass,"
"Leaving just a pain in the ass."

Have and Have Not Changed

Climate's been around long before
Humankind came onto the Earth.
And when humans are here no more,
Climate will be - for what it's worth.
The human haves always do do
A bunch of stuff that harms have nots.
The haves don't always mean to - true!
But haves have quirks toward goofy thoughts.
Most of the haves are WASPy sort
That think, then do the goofy stuff.
When non WASPy haves rule - in short,
Nothing much will change - sure enough!

As always the climate will change,
But people won't. That's nothing strange!

Have Hope

Hope is the start of dream of good,
The nourishment that feeds the thought
That if this happens, then it would
Be worth the effort that is sought
To turn the dream into the real.
And so the effort does begin
To make the good. The maker's zeal
Must balance with the discipline
To solve whatever problems rise
To challenge good that has begun.
Keeping the focus on the prize
And having hope until good's done.

There is no good beyond the scope
Of what is possible with hope.

The Drake Passage

Crossing the Passage in a boat,
Manned by some humans on a quest.
Named for Sir Francis who did float
Through centuries past in true test
Of the human need to know
Nature's secrets in all the world.
There is no place humans won't go,
Facing all wrath that nature's hurled.
Sir Francis' senses helped his search,
No computer technology
Bungee corded against the lurch.
Now man and machine sail the sea.

Investigating glacial melt,
Nature's upheavals still are felt.

Ads in the Bowl

Commercial T.V. hits its peak
In ad spots at Super Bowl time.
Many geared toward showing physique,
Enticing male viewers in prime.
Family friendly ads are not
Real worthwhile in this time and place.
In the seconds sellers have got,
Better to go for sick and base.
The human values, all in all,
Seem to be heading down the tube.
Soon we'll be watching and recall
Decency as just a bare boob.

Super Bowl ads go the hype -
Exploiting the stereotype.

I resolve to stop smoking cigs,
And to stop robbing groc'ry stores,
And to stop calling police - pigs,
And to stop making fun of whores.
I resolve to diet off pounds,
And ev'ry Sunday go to church,
And not talk trash that's out of bounds,
And ponder deep in my soul search.
I resolve to visit Mother,
And to take to the prison there
My new significant other,
'Cause it's good that family share.

Resolutions for two oh ten,
Might as well resolve 'em again.

Chamber Chat

A Senate of long ago Rome
Stabbed Caesar to death on the floor,
And left the body to go home,
But first gave speeches galore.
The U.S. Senate is well paid
To do the business of us.
Most of the time they each do tell
A bunch of talk and then do fuss
Of staying late on Christmas Eve.
The talking drags on due to scare.
They really are afraid to leave,
Because the voters are out there.

Oh what's the Senate to do?
Why - more empty talk - oh boo hoo!

Poll Goal

In the 21st century,
So far Hillary dominates
The most admired category
Of women, with no mix of mates.
If men and women polls were mixed,
Would Hillary rank above Bill?
Americans still seem transfixed
In sheepishly letting males fill
Most of the power in the games.
That needs to change. It's women's turn
To take control and be all names
In all polls. Wonders we will learn.

Once women take over controls,
The men will drop off all the polls.

Smell Full

Fighting global obesity
With aromas that quench the urge
To keep on eating, seem to be,
For an eater who's on the verge
Of swallowing, a bit too late,
Since the food is well on its way
To join its buddies in fat fate.
It seems perhaps the better play
Would be to get the smell out first,
Before the food passes the lips.
Let that magic aroma burst
While food is on the fingertips.

Food of the future - who can tell?
No need to eat the food - just smell.

Hand to Land

Cambodia's Cheung Ek, well known
For harboring the killing fields
Where Khmer Rouge remains were shown -
The harm that man against man wields.
And on that same land there is found
That man thrived centuries before.
Manmade pottery did abound -
That hands did more than just wage war.
The hands of looters now dig through
This land while hands of builders build.
Now this land's past and future do
Collide - their destinies fulfilled.

Ever availing is the land,
Holding the record of man's hand.

The upsetter of the Exec.
Obama smoking by a tree
Causes to break loose all lib heck.
The EPA goes to Fed court
To enjoin the Prez from his puff.
The EPA loses in short
And goes to Gore to play real rough.
In oh twelve, Obama v Gore.
Gore wins the primary, but not
The general. The libs are sore
When they see what the country got.

Will she target the EPA?
"You betcha." Prez Sarah will say.

Freedom Fighters Anonymous

Freedom fighters are in Iran,
And in China and U.S.A.
In all nations, in all time span.
To name them all - there is no way.
Freedom is a subjective choice,
And all fight to be free at times.
Whether a con or lib does voice,
Support depends upon the crimes
Perceived done by those who oppress
Those who are fighting to be free.
All regimes in power, I guess,
Believe they have the right to be.

Liberal or conservative,
Free is how we most want to live.

Even as you grow old and wise,
You will always keep in your heart
A truth that is a special prize
Of which I am a child faith part.
No matter what the real world bears,

Reminding you that someone cares,
And that you should never forget
That I am always in you here
To help you have faith in your best,
And not just at one time of year.
I am always your live in guest.

You do believe in me because...
For you forever. Santa Claus.

Gone Roboing

I reeled in my line from the boat.
The fish just weren't biting today.
Nothing to show for my long float.
No tales for those that got away.
At the end of my line was a fish,
Caught by the hook in its tail.
Ten inches long, it looked weirdish -
Unnatural in fin and scale.
It yelled, "Danger Will Robinson."
In a computer sounding voice.
A robot fish - son of a gun!
This fish tale to tell would be choice.

When I grabbed it to pull it free,
That fish electrocuted me.

About the Blues

The National Recovery

And a blue eagle came to be
The emblem of do it this way.
Government interference with
The economic marketplace
Zealed wing flapping the no fly myth
That profit seekers would embrace;
That out of goodness of biz heart,
Big government could flex its might.
Biz would happily do its part,
Happily ever after - right!

The color from the eagle flew.
We the taxpayers are now blue.

Ship Shod

I gave Ralph instructions to ship.
He's a servant, too old to fire,
And screwed up each cash saving tip
Given by this frugal vampire.
First, I told him to go online,
Do some comparison shopping.
But Ralph, no thought for me or mine,
Hired his cousin after drinking.
This cousin had a cart and horse.
I needed to ship overseas.
Delivery took years of course.
Ralph died in the meantime - puhleeze!

Ralph cost me big bucks - the dimwit,
Shipping the coffin - me in it.

Clear Skin

There has been and always will be
Too much about color of skin.
Humans have no capacity
To skip the out and look within.
Science is working on a way
To make a thing invisible.
When this is perfected one day,
Then to make one's skin color null,
All newborns will receive a shot,
Making the skin tone disappear.
So color of skin - be judged not.
A whole clear racial atmosphere.

Of course then we'll talk about tones
Of each other's organs and bones.

Today, I'm not sure that the gent
Could get elected as a chub.

Job Nob

Technology is future's way.
We keep creating it to do
The work so that humans can play.
We then complain - few jobs - boo hoo.
As nations get more socialized,
Governments keep humans in place,
Providing livings well disguised
To keep content in time and space.
Where human labor is required,
A job will be there for each one,
And guaranteed until expired.
Humans will play the game - how fun!

Yes, jobs will be the easy part,
Bossed by machines we built too smart.
