Discovery

The space shuttle, Discovery,
Got shuttled into retirement,
Put out to pasture in D.C.,
Museumed to represent
To all who cared to see up close
The glories past of time in space,
When dreams were of the vast cosmos,
And the U.S. winning each race.
Discovery discovered that
She and her kind would go no more
To aims beyond, but would stay at
Places filled with what was decor.

Discovery made her last roam,
One last wheels stopped and welcome home.

Crux of Flux

A politician takes both sides,
Depending on who wants to know.
Take liquor listeners as guides.
To church groups - 'tis the demon flow,
Desecrating family life,
Making sinners sin all the more,
Causing such misfortune and strife.
This pol's against liquor galore.
To bar owners - 'tis festive cheer,
A shield against the winter chill,
The way to bring in each new year.
This pol's all for liquor distill.

This pol is quick to emphasize
On liquor there's no compromise.

Bill Doth Rule

Bill O'Reilly assures us all
That the Supreme Court will so act
On Obamacare, per Bill's call -
Unconstitutional - a fact!
Cuz it would mean a power grab
By the federal government,
Unlike anything, Bill did gab,
The Constitution ever meant.
The Supreme Court justices will
Surely listen to the esteemed
Opinion of know it all Bill.
They sure don't want to get Bill steamed.

So it's bye bye Obamacare,
Cuz Bill O'Reilly did declare.

Sonnetly Yours

Put a poem in your pocket,
And carry it throughout the day.
Maybe mean minded might mock it,
But artistic words have a way
Of making you the better feel
As you journey through space and time,
Sensing the beauty truly real,
Loving life in rhythm and rhyme.
Even bad poetry is good,
Because tiz reaching out to touch
Another, to be understood,
An aim we humans want so much.

Pick a sonnet from my bonnet,
Be the better for what's on it.

Mummy of John Wilkes Booth

The mummy of John Wilkes Booth twaz
A carnival road show for years,
A money loser, perhaps the cause,
The mummy up and disappears.
A private collector, some say,
Took the mummy from show biz strife,
Maybe looking to find a way
To bring the mummy back to life.
Cuz a mummy alive would be
A cash cow full of repertoires.
How 'bout reality T.V.?
Or how 'bout Dancing With the Stars?

The mummy of John Wilkes Booth tiz
Making a comeback in show biz.

Stinc

Stossel Incorporated 'twas
A company called Stinc for short,
That ran afoul the U.S. laws,
Printing its own money of sort,
Called Stossels with that famous face,
And when one rubbed the bill in hand,
Moustache hairs all over the place.
But someone had to take a stand,
Cuz the money of Uncle Sam
Is losing value all the time,
And too soon won't be worth a damn.
'Tis Uncle Sam guilty of crime!

So Stinc did what Stinc had to do,
Cuz of the U.S. stinkaroo.

Obamacare fare

Obamacare - so the polls say,
Is not the majority's choice.
But Americans have a way
Of speaking out in mindless voice.
The health care system needed fixed.
We the People don't fix stuff well,
So powers that be politixed
The plan that enough ins could sell,
Knowing from past experience
That once in, there is little doubt,
Because the public is so dense,
Not often are ins voted out.

The main say on Obamacare -
The Supremes - no politics there!

Day of Reckoning

The Journal of the A.M.A.
Has done a study on road death,
And does report that on tax day
More tax filers take their last breath.
The study gives no answers why
More tax filers are in grave risk
That tax day they will drive and die.
Perhaps a booze connect - tsk! tsk!
Taxes are taxing, there's no doubt.
So if on tax day, you do drive,
Be vigilant to all about,
And drive your best to stay alive.

Death and taxes - the two sure things,
Oft a package deal, tax day brings.

Egypt Entombed

Egypt forever has been ruled
By Pharoah likes who somehow made
The masses zombies who were fooled
To live as bid or be afraid
That others would rule who were worse.
And so the masses stayed entombed,
Existing under Pharoah's curse,
Believing better to be doomed
By monsters who at least were known,
A reassurance from the past
That what was bad from Pharoah's throne
Was really best for all amassed.

Whoever assumes Egypt's head,
The body will stay living dead.

Mail Tale

I made a letter bomb, and sent
It to city hall in protest
Of high taxes - my way to vent
And get my anger off my chest.
Time went by. No boom in the news,
And other stuff filled up my mind.
I got up from my nap time snooze,
And went to my mailbox to find
A bulky envelope that said
"Return to sender - postage due."
Still kind of drowsy in my head,
I failed to think that fully through.

That letter bomb - could this be it?
I thought as I opened - oh s--t!

Alligator Snapping Turtle

That trepassing human just stood
Up to no good in my home creek.
So as any polite one would,
I gave his boot a little tweak.
Slowly he lowered his bugged eyes.
We gave each other a long stare.
I pondered an attack surprise
At his private parts hanging there.
But that would just bring more like him
To hassle me, and so I chose
Not to bring trouble on a whim.
Better to just avoid bozos.

Alligator snapping turtles
Too oft must face human hurdles.

Race to Judgement

President Obama can bring
Up race because he has that right,
But does he do it right's the thing,
Or does he just provoke more fight?
There are plenty who do race bait,
And relish any chance to fuel
The never dying fires of hate.
The President becomes a tool
Of such race baiters, when by choice,
Before all of the facts are in,
He boosts race buzz with his big voice,
That media reports, with spin.

There's nothing wrong talking of race,
But there's a right way, time and place.

Furman Bisher at ninety three
Covered the Masters for decades,
Went from notes penned on paper be
To laptop as reporting aids.
Walking the beat to best report,
A master of the Masters feel,
Sharing the passion for the sport,
Enhancing the Masters appeal.
That same old yellow bucket hat
Bearing the Augusta logo
Will not be worn by Furman at
The Masters this year - sadly so.

Furman has got a new press seat
At the Masters on heavens beat.

Sensing Spring

Ah, the true joys of Spring are here,
As my senses be aware.
The greenie sights are not too clear,
As allergies, my eyeballs bear.
I try to keep my mouth shut tight
To spurn the taste of gnat and bug.
I'm sure Spring's sounds are a delight,
But both my ears have got the plug.
All of those smells so fresh and new,
But my nose is clogged up in snot.
And Spring do touch, oh yes Spring do,
In bird poop and bee sting I got.

Ah yes, Spring is here, I do sense.
I pay the price of Spring's expense.

That is for profit runs the risk
Of failing - that's the way just tiz.
So though it may seem a tsk tsk,
The ones in charge who call the shots,
Provide their golden parachutes,
Lined with just in case goodies - lots,

Making the lessers be quite mad.

Call of the Ball

I knew he had the ball to win,
And of course that ball 'twould be me.
He does the shot, I do the spin,
A winning combination be.
'Twas on the fifteenth green we wowed.
No floopty-doopty flop would do.
He hit me right - I was so proud,
A hopped up grasshopper, I flew
A jumping straight in the air up,
Then plop stop three feet from the hole.
He then putted me in the cup.
Together to a win we'd roll.

But next day he made the wrong call,
And grabbed some other loser ball.

For being good at piggy backs,
Profiting from others' ill fate.
That company does sow its seeds
Through all levels of government,
For folks to be there when it needs

Tiger Tweak

The Tiger took at last a win,
After a lengthy pro golf drought.
A key to that was putts went in
More often than the putts went out.
Some experts say that Tiger tweaked
His setup to the ball address,
And thanks to that, experts critiqued,
Tiger, the gods of golf did bless.
Due to the tweak, Tiger got deft
At squaring shoulders to the right,
Practicing to be anti left,
Letting more balls and cups unite.

Tiger squared right, his putts to fix,
But still leans left in politics.

Spring Mountains Pyrg

Spring Mountains Pyrg - I am a snail.
Word is the water I live in
Is being pumped on a vast scale
To Las Vegas, city of sin.
If I stay here I'm gonna be
All dried up in an empty shell.
So I'm heading to that city
To play the slots and give'em hell.
If you can't beat'em -  join'em, so
Acting on survival instinct,
I'm betting the odds I must go
To Vegas, or I'll be extinct.

Las Vegas is my destined place,
But getting there is at snail's pace.

What's Relative?

Einstein 'splained relativity
Of time, using two points of view
Of two guys - one standing near be
A moving train. The other who
Is on that train, sees lightening bolts
In two spots sequentially hit.
The other guy, on the ground, jolts,
Seeing two flashes same time hit.
Why did the guys not see the same?
The difference was motion made
As Einstein tried to 'splain his claim,
With two guys in visual aid.

Relativity's hard to 'splain
To a guy just hit by a train.

Let's put them all in jail, because
Their passing laws should be a crime.
And don't let the lawmakers out
Until they've read each law there tiz.
That'll keep'em in jail, no doubt,
In for life, out of our biz.
Lawmakers behind bars will be
Like taking the kids to the zoo
To look at an extinct specie
Who hurt us, but no longer do.

There ought to be a law to make
All laws illegal for sane sake.

The old horse pranced to Broncos land,
Expecting more big bucks galore,
That behooves a famed throwing hand,
But that those Colts wanted no more.
This prob'ly means a trade away
Of the young pony full of prayer.
But he's got many years to play
As maybe Dolphin or as Bear.
The old horse has spirit to try
To gallop again to the goal
That the world will measure him by -
Winning again the Super Bowl.

The old horse knows that time runs short.
That's just the nature of the sport.

Unsinkable Molly Brown

She went aboard the ship, first class.
While on board she became concerned
That if disaster came to pass,
Too few lifeboats by count she learned.
And then did come that fateful night.
The wounded ship began to sink.
She helped evacuate from plight
Fellow passengers, to the brink
Of staying on the ship too long.
Someone tossed her in a lifeboat.
She rowed and tried to remain strong.
Around her did drowned bodies float.

She watched the Titanic go down,
The unsinkable Molly Brown.

Pee for Pointers

Please follow these game how to tips:
Back straight, knees bent, feet placed apart.
Keep head down, hands both in loose grips.
Check water hazards before start.
Try to avoid a quick back swing,
And try not to hit anyone.
If slow, then do the polite thing,
Let faster players get it done.
In front of others do not stand.
Be quiet while others prepare.
No extra strokes with either hand.
On the side of caution do err.

Follow these instructions, don't scoff,
Flush, then go outside and tee off.

Prof Obama called Mary in,
Who had a four point GPA,
With a good study discipline.
Prof Obama had this to say,
"Your fellow student, Pete, has got"
"A GPA of only one."
"True, he doesn't study a lot."
"He likes to party and have fun."
"But to be fair, I need you to"
"Give one of your grade points to Pete,"
"Cuz he needs it more than you do."
Mary tried hard not to explete.

"Prof Obama, why should I share"
"What I worked hard for - that's not fair!"

They both thought it was so much fun,

Living the American dream,
Grabbing the gusto, nothing but.
The Roller Derby Hall of Fame -
Ma was inducted - first female.
And the next year rolling Flash came,
A mother/son thing without fail.

Ma and Flash Bogash skated to
A dreamworld that for them came true.

As Trayvon Martin, both black boys.
My son - gangrelated cops say,
So there won't be much bothered noise.
Too often it is black and black,
When in an all black neighborhood,
Young black males grow up on a track
Where the choices of bad look good.
And so bad choices killed my son,
The same day that many sons died.
The whys live while those lives are done,
Thanks to the odds for homicide.

Since he was born, it's been my dread
That I'd live to see my son dead.

With no wind turbines on the rise
Offshore his Scotland golf to do.
So he threatens to take his balls,
And go elsewhere pristine to play,
Where there are no wind turbine walls
Like prison bars on each fairway.

For Scotland, matters not to Trump.

'Cause followed Generation X?
Hardly tags to exemplify

The youth do drown in debt they're in.

A bit squarish around the world,
But all the people love my style,
Letting their sketchings be unfurled.
Some have taken me to an art.
See me hang out in museums.
Pretty good for one who did start
As a playmate for kids all thumbs.
The Mona Lisa has been on me.

But I'm still simple as can be.
