Dead Livelihood

Oh it was such a sad, sad day
When the factory did shut down.
I left my job with my last pay.
Nothing to smile about - just frown.
It was my job for twenty years.
Each product made with loving care,
And then the need just disappears.
So called progress is hell, I swear.
I don't know what I'm gonna do.
How will I pay for room and board?
I'll have to beg, maybe steal too.
So to hell with you, Henry Ford.

Through teary eyes and trembling lips,
I bid goodbye to buggy whips.

F Word

This F word is bandied about -
Fascism, from Latin for bunch
Of same sticks sticking tight throughout,
Tied round an axe for extra punch.
Fascists in the U.S. of A.
Want a return to way back when
'Twas like the Founding Fathers' day,
A nation run by all WASP men.
Ah, those good ol' days - white and pure.
But over time outsiders came.
WASP men are losing hold for sure.
It's all this freedom that's to blame.

Bunches of same sticks, be assured,
Are still sticking to this F word.

C v C

'Tis the battle of the big "C"s,
Red China versus George Clooney,
Over the fate of the Sudanese,
And the genocide there that be.
Clooney is playing his C card,
Using his celebrity to
Make it a little more hard
For NATO to watch but not do
Interference with China's deal
For oil with the mass murderers.
Publicity is the appeal
That getting some right most assures.

Can Clooney change Sudanese fate?
It may be too little, too late.

Furnitureprint

Evil furniture moving biz,
Demon cross country moving vans.
Already furnished homes - that tiz
What greenies push for Save Earth plans.
The furnishings would stay put, so
It's moving would not cause pollute.
Just the people would come and go,
In their carbon footprint pursuit.
Since furniture does go to waste,
Perhaps edible it should be,
In flavors to personal taste,
To be snacked on, watching T.V.

Furniture movers - beware green.
Your "dirty biz" - they wanna clean.

Other party caricature
Of high profilers in the news,
Tried true politics for sure,
Part of why We the People lose.
The game is trash the other side,
And twist the truth in any way.
It's who and what gets better lied
That determines election day.
If politicians told the truth
About themselves, then we might take
That truth into the voting booth.
What a difference that could make!

As it is, all we have are lies
About those other gals and guys.

George Vernon Hudson

George Vernon Hudson - who is he?
He's the mastermind who thought of
Daylight saving time, so there'd be
More summertime for his first love -
Collecting bugs in eve's still light.
George was an entomologist,
An insect stuff know it all ite,
Collecting the most wanted list
Of bugs, but summer dusk came too
Early, so why not just move time?
But he was mocked that such would do
Mischief without reason nor rhyme.

So time went by before, by George,
His dream of saving time did forge.

Gene Blame

I'm told I'm a schizophrenic,
Addictive personality.
I'm told a gene makes me so tick,
And makes me vote the way I be.
When I look at politicians,
And the weird ways that most behave,
This gene thing hits like bricks of tons.
We're governed from cradle to grave
By sick brains that we voted in,
Because a sick gene told us to.
No wonder the mess that has been.
Such genes command all that we do.

We've got sick government - that means
We the People have got sick genes.

Live Addictive

Chasing a dream, looking for love
In all the wrong places is how
An addict takes a pathway of
To anywhere, but not in now.
The substance of substance abuse
Is like the sands shifting in time,
Ever falling in patterns loose,
Seeking to find reason or rhyme
For why the addict is so lost,
And looking nowhere to find out,
Until is found that life's last cost,
Leaving others living to doubt.

And when the addict's dead and gone,
No rhyme nor reason searches on.

Basic Training

Mr. Maher, I was surprised -
One paragraph - you made some sense.
The President, as you advised,
Should have real life experience
Serving in the military,
To be the commander in chief,
To feel first hand what it's to be
In war, beyond a White House brief,
Beyond sitting in the war room,
As though another game of Risk,
Sending our children to doom
On a power play whim - tsk tsk!

Your mil to Obama, your champ,
Is that to pay for his boot camp?

To Kill a Laptop

To Kill a Mockingbird had Dad,
Atticus Finch, raising his kids,
Keeping his cool when they got mad.
But most parents do blow their lids.
Like Tommy Jordan, the peeved pop,
Over his daughter's sassing ways,
Did shoot his teenager's laptop,
Forever in You Tube replays.
Of course there are therapists who
Think Tommy needs to emulate
Atticus more in how to do
Better parent communicate.

To Kill a Laptop now is fame
In the real world parenting game.

Lost on Pitcairn

I came to Pitcairn for to see
Where mutineers so long ago
From "Mutiny on the Bounty"
Sought haven on the T.V. show.
An island paradise remote
To bring to real my T.V. dreams
That my tube watching does promote.
It must be more than it all seems.
For South Pacific Pitcairn, true,
Some mutineer descendents live
In tropics, polar bears run through,
And a strange swirling mass - what give?

Two shows I saw on T.V. crossed -
The HMS Bounty meets Lost!

If money goes bye bye, Rush then

Conservatives - time for ol' Rush
To eat mouthfuls of crow, and hush?

Angel

Little Angel, for a brief while,
You survived the tornado's dread,
That left your home a twisted pile,
And all of your family dead.
You gave the world a bit of good
Amid all the bunches of bad.
The world was hoping that you would
Somehow survive the harm you had.
But nature's ways are not designed
For mere mortals to understand.
You were given to humankind,
Then taken as divine had planned.

Sweet Angel, if it had to be,
Go back to God and family.

But human nature is the thing.
Forever, humankind on Earth
Has acted out the bully trait.
All wars and crimes fulfill self worth.

As long as humans are around,
Plenty of bullies will abound.

An old snake went to see the doc,
Hissing that he could not see well.
So taking some glasses from stock,
Doc fitted the snake, then did tell
The snake in two weeks to return.
Two weeks later, the snake came back,
Telling doc, depression did churn,
Filled with anxiety attack.
The doc asked if the glasses were
Giving the old snake better sight.
"I see good," the snake did concur,
"But sadly, I saw such a fright."

"My seeing better did disclose"
"That my lover's a garden hose."

Congress - a bunch of folks in a room,
Talking up ideas a lot,
Producing good - one might assume.
Bundles of debt - that's what we got.
Maybe Congress should never meet,
Or if they do, they never talk.
That way, perhaps the balance sheet
Can rest a bit from spending shock.
If ideas join to have sex,
So far Congress has exalted
In causing mainly birth defects,
As the country is assaulted.

As long as Congress does exist,
We've got a sex offender list.

Sergeant Reckless, U.S. Marine,
Served during the Korean War,
Earned her stripes going 'twist and 'tween
The front line and the ammo store,
Getting ammo, then going back
To fellow Marines to reload
And hold their line in the attack.
Best in a Marine, Reckless showed.
After the cease fire, Reckless went
Back to U.S. Camp Pendleton,
Where the rest of her life was spent
With Marines and Fearless, her son.

For Sergeant Reckless, Semper Fi
From this true war horse does apply.

A futileness for humankind.
Let's leave it to government biz
To give us all happy of mind.
Try to think like a fam'ly pet.
A dog or cat seems happiest
When from the master, it does get
Attentiveness that does suggest
The master wants the pet to be
Well and tended, but to behave,
So that there's household harmony.
The pet seems happiest as slave.

It's as happy as I will get.
Government master, me the pet.

Lonely Heart

I am a person who's alone.
Valentine's Day reminds me so.
My loneliness is all my own.
Of marriage, I can speak of woe.
We were so long, husband and wife,
Living the ups and downs as one,
Through sixty years of married life,
So much sharing of love was done.
But as with all life, death did come
And tore the two of us apart,
Leaving me a living lonesome,
With just one lonely, broken heart.

Perhaps my heart will heal in time,
But for now my life's a sad rhyme.

There are a bunch around the world
Who want to be free of U.S.
Words and deeds against them are hurled

Nothing better than new, fresh dung.
Loads of critters head for the heap.
A dung beetle's just one among
So many who love to eat (bleep.)
I grab a piece and make a ball
To roll it home fast as I can.
A straight line course is best of all.
But sometimes fate screws up that plan.
So when I hit a snag, I dance.
It helps to get my bearings back,
To circumvent the circumstance,
And get my poop ball back on track.

More oft than not I make my goal,
Just takes a bit of rock and roll.
