Rerise

What if the Confederacy
Had won the Civil War back then?
Would there still be slavery?
Would the churches call it a sin?
What ifs about the Civil War
Still dance about in present minds.
Reenactments of blood and gore
Are still a part of need that binds.
The now with hauntings of that past
Recordings of the points of view,
No one's experience does last
Of that real time and living through.

The Civil War, long past and gone?
No, Virginia, the war goes on.

Rajan

I am Rajan. How do you do?
It is a nice day for a dip.
I see that you like swimming too.
Welcome to the wet membership
In the Andaman Sea swim club,
With these waters soothing and warm,
Like relaxing in a bath tub,
Free from any worry and harm.
I am retired from logging life,
Going with the flow that fate sends.
A snake bite took Rani, my wife,
So now I swim here with my friends.

My retirement goes swimmingly,
For this elephant of the sea.

Tea Bagged

Bob Bennett, long time senator
From the reddest state of the red,
Out of conviction voted for
Bills that made re-election dead
For him in Utah - no surprise.
Tea party conservs fill that state,
And did vote as they do surmise
That there is no time left to wait
For RINOs and the like to be
Fiddling around while values burn
Of conservative purity.
Incumbents have lessons to burn.

The first tea bagged was Bob Bennett.
Lots more baggies in the Senate.

Let Them In

The U.S.A. is great today
Because of immigrants who came
With hope to find a better way.
Freedom waved from the torch's flame.
I watched and welcomed millions here
Through the main doorway to this land.
In early times there was no fear
That mass illegals would be banned.
To the border with Mexico,
I wish that I could travel there
To call for all to be let go
Into this land for freedom's share.

I'm the conscience of this country.
I'm the Statue of Liberty.

Poppie

The tab is pulled or cap unscrewed,
And soda pop beckons to me.
The fizzing sound as it is spewed,
Enticing foreplay ecstasy.
Gallons and gallons I imbibe,
In mouth, down throat to tummy flows.
Such sweetness I cannot describe.
It's fattening because it shows.
I should try a 12 step program,
A soda pop anonymous.
I need to deal with what I am.
I guess there are a bunch of us.

Since I've started, I cannot stop.
I'm addicted to soda pop.

Leaky

Iran wants to go nuclear.
The U.S government says no,
Then gets itself in a big stir
When Iran tells it where to go.
A super power's say should be
Enough for anyone to hear.
Iran is acting quite naughty
And need be punished - that is clear.
But how to punish - that's the rub.
A super power plan in doubt.
The U.S. has been known to flub,
As leaking memos can point out.

To be or not to be a plan
For punishing naughty Iran.

Pinkie Stinkie

King Akhentaten, King Tut's dad
Got dug up from his Egypt tomb,
And from his bod, some thieving cad
Ripped off a toe, and then did zoom
To sell the prize to foreign folk.
The toe then passed from hand to hand.
Egypt did not think it a joke
That the royal toe had left the land.
But finally there came the day
When toe and foot did reunite.
If Tut were around, he might say,
"Daddy's mummy is again right."

Perhaps a future movie show -
The Return of the Mummy's Toe.

Oldie but no Goodie

Longer goes life expectancy,
With age dementia on the rise.
Soon whole generations could be
Living veggies before one dies.
Children with parents losing minds
May come to lose their minds also,
Leaving the grandchildren who finds
Aging not a good way to go.
Elder abuse is getting bad,
And it will only become worse.
More kids will wish old Mom and Dad
Out of their lives and in a hearse.

Some native tribes knew what to do -
Leave the old one in a canoe.

Spin the Spill

The Gulf of Mexico oil spill,
A manmade disaster, unknown
Of how much life the oil will kill.
Too soon the havoc will be shown.
But even sooner the blame is spewed.
The libs blame conservs and big oil
For being villains, mean and crude.
Conservs fume greenies want to spoil
The American dream with ways
That loony libs are prone to do,
Including some sabotage craze.
A finger pointing stinkaroo!

It's human nature first to blame,
Then fix the problem. That's a shame!

Fuzz on my Mind

Speak my mind with a so called friend,
And I am asking for bad news.
My words can end up in the end,
Biting my butt, stating my views.
So I do not communicate
With anyone, and I just stay
Alone in my room. But they wait -
The thought police point beams my way,
Intercepting the thoughts I think.
I try to leap p.c. pitfalls,
But sometimes I have thoughts that stink.
I did put tin foil on my walls.

The thought police ev'rywhere be,
And tuning in to thinking me.

Rev Up Revenue

I was midway in the cross walk.
An ambulance came speeding by.
I just stood there in frozen shock.
But not hit, I let out a sigh.
The ambulance stopped and out came
The driver asking was I hit.
I said no, and he took no blame,
Just asked for I.D. I gave it.
When asked if I wanted transport.
I said no - that I was okay.
He raced off like A.J. Foyt. In short,
Telling me to have a good day.

For the ambulance stop to check,
I got a bill for what the heck!

Treme

Katrina tried to wash away
All the New Orleans neighborhoods.
I am the one that's called Treme.
Once marsh and mossy covered woods,
Then mostly African folks came,
And called me home hundreds of years.
Though nothing ever stays the same,
Except good music to my ears.
And now the world can get a chance
To see me on my T.V. show.
My folks, they eat and sing and dance.
Come check us out on HBO.

New Orleans hospitality.
Find the finest and you've found me.

Re Porn

Addictions have no rules on who
Can get them and there's no quick fix.
If Christ can help, then power to
Him saving lots of dudes and chicks.
Anyone can find Christ for free,
But folks use him to make a buck.
Most addicts like to spend money.
So let'em do biz - best of luck.
Porn is like all addicting stuff.
It's easy to slide on the hook.
But getting off of it is tough.
Whatever works by book or crook!

Porn addicts can be anyone.
This gal age 90 thought 'twas fun.

Build From Destroyed

A mosque, to build or not to build
Near Ground Zero brings hot debate.
Pages of history are filled
With acts of evil and of hate
In the names of all religion.
If religion cannot build good
Because of nearness to bad done,
Then all that will be understood
Is that a certain time and place
Like 911, Ground Zero
Is a narrow judgemental space
Where only certain things can grow.

A mosque at Ground Zero would be
A reminder of liberty.

Prestidigi-taxation

The term "tax" is a nasty term
For the people who have to pay.
Raising taxes does make gov squirm,
Going back to tea party day.
When a tax is right in the face
Of the payer, the face gets red.
Gov wants tax in some other place,
Out of sight and mind instead.
So all services and products
Have to pay to play the gov game.
The consumer price adds on bucks.
Gov can give business the blame.

One day none will pay income tax.
Gov has other vanishing acts.

Kid Smart

Civics and government ed taught
In public schools is hazardous,
Because most teachers there are fraught
With teaching skills most outragious.
Make use of the Web and T.V.
To produce kids programs, both fun
And with true objectivity -
No slant agendas to be spun.
If such programs are really max,
Kids will flock to them on their own,
Where they can have good fun with facts,
And become more citizen prone.

Unlearned adults - are there no hopes?
Pay the kids to teach the old dopes.

A new wild wilderness retreat.
I was uniquely qualified
To make this venture so awesome,
Never before customer tried.
My elevator pitch did hum.
I made eye contact and did smile.
Attention center I did be,
But something was off with my style,
'Cause ev'rybody ran from me.

My get rich plans all went kaput.

Hindenburg

We were in the main dining room.
Our parents called us to see
The landing that would turn to doom -
The Hindenburg in New Jersey.
There was a blast, then fire spread.
My brother and sister were thrown
From me, as flames struck at my head.
I did not want to die alone.
But somehow Mother grabbed me tight.
Father was no longer alive.
The rest of us plunged into night.
Sister Irene did not survive..

The Hindenburg brought tragedy
To us, the Doehner family.

Carp a Comin'

We're coming to America,
The land of opportunity,
To Lake Michigan, you betcha,
Home of fin and water of free.
We do hear through the grape bubble
That states around are making waves,
Stirring up a bunch of trouble,
Accusing us of misbehaves.
The scales of justice move so slow.
We must get our tails in fast.
That's one thing we Asian Carp know.
The more we mate, the more we last.

No court, no matter how supreme,
Sinks our American dream.

Drill Mill

To drill or not to drill offshore.
That is the question back and forth.
Just the thought make the greenies sore.
The polar bears weep way up north.
But those who like another green,
The color of money, say drill.
There is no profit in pristine.
All oil comes with a little spill.
Independent security -
Buzz words politicos do spout,
To dig for homegrown energy,
'Cause oil we cannot do without.

U.S. offshore drilling pollutes
With all the pundits convolutes.

Censustivity

I come to visit each 10 years.
The Constitution says I must.
This round there seems to be some fears
That I am not one you can trust.
The right blames me as a left tool
To leave the right out in the cold.
I want no part of that trash duel.
Their bickering is getting old.
The Founding Father, Madison,
Thought I would be of proper use
To count everybody in.
I, the census, want no abuse.

So when I show up at your door,
It's just to count you - nothing more.

Wake Up or Not

With my tax refund I spent green,
And bought me a new alarm clock
Which was powered with gasoline,
A weird way to run a tick tock.
The government's Energy Star
Gave it eco-friendly approved.
What the heck! I got from my car
Some gas, and got the new clock grooved,
And revved up ready to go live,
Its engine humming right on track.
Buttons were pushed and set for five.
I was tired so I hit the sack.

When the alarm sounds, up I'll burst,
Unless the gas fumes get me first.

Hard Life

Twenty nine in this time and place.
Fathers, husbands, brothers and sons.
Coal miners lost in death's embrace,
Leaving behind grieving loved ones.
Generations have lived and died,
Mining the coal from rocky hills,
Having to dig down deep inside
The earth and souls, sharing the wills
To live this kind of life that's hard,
That outsiders will never know,
And only show passing regard
When tragedy dictates they show.

Coal mining takes away life's breath,
Ever looms the shadow of death.

Gov Love

Big gov says to small business,
"We are here to help you all give"
"Us more, so that you will have less,"
"Making your life lighter to live."
"The taxes that we put on you"
"Are only there for your own good."
"Without them all, what would you do"
"But worry much more than you should"
"That big gov might not be around"
"To hold your hand and tuck you in."
"To big gov you're forever bound,"
"Taxable again and again."

Taxes are handed by gov
To hug small business with love.

Travel Disallowance

A public paid perk that gyps
All taxpayers of money's worth
Is public servants taking trips
To fun spots all around the Earth.
They play much more than they do work.
The wee work is lots of hot air.
Ease global warning - end this perk.
The technology now is there -
Called having a conference call.
The public servants can stay put.
Vacuums can trap the hot air all.
Junk junket costs - we should not foot.

Public servants who trip their time,
Make them do it on their own dime.

Air Ware

This product is easily made
By squeezing hands together so
It has no fattiness displayed.
In thinness it is set to go.
An infomercial then can tout
How it can be used as a place
Where things can be pulled in or out,
And yet not take up any space.
People will flock to pay the price.
Since the stores will have for sale none,
The ad phone number must suffice,
With a special deal - two for one.

Thin air - the product that will be
The one as NOT seen on T.V.

Re Possess

The car possessed that was Christine,
Though fictional does give a way
To stretch the life of your machine.
Proper cursing of your car may
Provide an entity to dwell
Within each vehicular part.
If you don't mind driving in hell,
This option could be very smart.
You would not have to do car stuff,
'Cause there would be no wear and tear,
Except your nerves - that could be tough.
After a while you would not care.

Your possessed car can ever last,
Long after you are gone and past.

But wearing China's hand me downs.

Oh, remember those good ol' days
Gore invented the Internet.
P.C. had mysterious ways,
Like learning a new alphabet.
Trying to teach the old new tricks -
Mid life crisis - lordy forbid.
Smarter adults went for the fix
Of learning how to from a kid.
Those kids have now grown up. and should
Get kids now to teach them the new.
Adults can think they are real good,
But then from think, they try to do.

To avoid an adult self wreck,
A kid should teach each new high tech.

The Liberty Pitch

Through history the masses had
A bunch of despots calling shots.
The early despots looked quite bad,
So now despots use p.r. lots.
Today, the Founding Fathers team
Is regarded as oh so wise.
They called the shots, so it would seem,
To get us to democratize.
Since then, U.S. powers that be
Use the Constitution to keep
We masses thinking we are free,
As the real truth is buried deep.

The U. S. Constitution is
"Reformed" by powers that be biz.
