Surviving Child

When I first found the hiding child,
I knew the danger he was in.
Sought by nazi monsters who heiled
My nation into horrid sin.
I was living alone, and so
He stayed with me. Nobody knew.
I tried hard not to let it show
How scared I was to help a Jew.
For 3 years, the child was with me.
At last my nation lost the war.
The child was found by family.
We shared good byes and so much more.

I would not let this child be lost
Into that hellish holocaust.

Tweety Tweets

Tweety Bird, a lonely cartoon,
Did set up a Twitter account,
Sending out tweets to all; so soon,
Numbers of followers did mount.
Tweety tweeted about his life,
Most of it spent in his birdcage.
He tweeted of the joy and strife
Of icon stardom. 'Twas the rage
Across the Internet website.
The followers longed for receipt
Of the characters of such delight
That Tweety Bird winged it to tweet.

Tweety Bird's last tweet tweeted that.
"I tawt I taw a puddy tat."

Hatshepsut

I, Hatshepsut, took power from
My stepson, who was not too pleased.
Egypt's pharoah I did become,
And new lands and peoples I seized,
Building monuments to my fame,
Over a 22 year rule.
The world should ever praise my name.
Stepson - I should have killed that fool.
I suffered disease and I died,
And the throne passed to my stepson,
Who ordered my name be denied
With all this she pharoah had done.

Egypt, better because of me,
Forced to erase my memory.

The Bainbridge Mission

The USS Bainbridge is named
For the commodore who did fight
The Barberry pirates infamed
Two centuries ago, to right
The pirates' crimes upon the seas.
The US Navy did succeed
In wiping out the piracies.
Now, Somalian pirates indeed
Threaten US citizenry.
The USS Bainbridge does show
That taking out pirates to be
As just today as long ago.

The commodore did what he must.
His namesake ship too does the just.

For the Fun of It

Why do some go on a rampage,
Shooting strangers and family?
What could drive some to such a rage?
How could some get so damn crazy?
So called experts try to explain
The mounting killings, case by case.
A lot of built up angry pain
Over some loss the killer can't face?
Perhaps it is of simpler mind -
To trade the morals and laws of man
For the excitement some can find
To kill because the killer can.

Shooting down people can be fun.
It makes no sense to stop at one.

Anying

Anying, my oldest son, was killed,
Fighting in the Korean War.
So much of China's blood was spilled,
Fighting with our comrades for
Ending imperialist pains
Upon the masses by the few.
My children wanted the remains
Of their brother returned home to
Be buried close to family.
But, I said Anying should stay
With all his comrades where they be,
Ever tomorrow's yesterday.

He died a martyr, duty done.
He also was Mao Zedong's son.

Noah Fooling

April Fool's Day - where did it start?
Theories abound in that regard.
Some say that Noah played a part.
Mister raven was a rogue card -
A troublemaker on the ark.
On what would become April first,
Noah ordered to disembark,
The male raven. Then Noah cursed
The raven line by holding back
The female raven, so he thought,
Which really was a dove dyed black.
Both the ravens flew free and begat.

Noah saw red and lost his cool,
Becoming the first April fool.

Yoo Hoo

At first, it was quite a surprise,
Just walking down a city street,
Looking in stores for bargain buys;
Then having my name called in repeat.
I'd look around. No one was there.
But then I'd hear my name again.
An ad for a brand name houseware
Was telling me about a pan.
I'd pause in front of store by store,
And ads kept beckoning to me,
Giving me sales pitches galore,
Knowing my buying history.

The ads recognize me a lot,
When sometimes my Mom does not.

Customizing Easter

Easter, a pagan holiday,
Was borrowed by Christians as a time
To celebrate in their own way,
Keeping hid what was then a crime.
Pagans, big on fertility,
Used bunnies and eggs in the spring.
So some Christians, wanting to be
In the loop, came up with the thing
Of eggs laid by a bunny, then
Painting the eggs bright colors for
Giving to good Christian kids when
It was Christ's rebirth time once more.

The Easter bunny laying eggs,
A human fiction with long legs.

It Sucks

Somehow a leech got onto me,
And began sucking out my blood.
Doctors pondered what way would be
The best to nip this in the bud.
Removing forcibly the pest,
They feared could leave in the leech head,
Causing an infection at best.
So it was decided instead
To try to get the leech to leave
Voluntarily from the scene.
At last success, they did achieve
With a solution of saline.

Not a pleasant event at all,
A leech feeding on my eyeball.

Intreegue

I felt him climb high up my trunk,

Then tying himself to my limbs.

The guy is most likely just drunk.

Humans are known for goofy whims.

But then the guy pulls out a gun,

And puts a bullet through his head.

Shoot! What has this guy gone and done? -

Stuck me with a squatter that's dead.

In my branch, the pistol got caught.

Carrion will pick this guy clean.

Life and death goes on, come what not.

Now I got guy and gun and green.

Years later - bones found up a tree,

When loggers come to cut down me.

A Time to Heal

Being a big basketball fan,
Especially the college hoops,
I chose March to go with my plan
To recuperate from my droops
Of having a vasectomy.
March madness is a perfect time
To sit in front of the T.V.,
Absolved from any husband crime,
Because I'd made the sacrifice
To go under the doctor's knife.
Basketball heaven, oh so nice,
Waited on by a grateful wife.

It's going super, all in all,
Resting mine, watching kids play ball.

Feast On

Some white pig cops got killed today.
Of course, a brother gets the blame.
That's always gonna be the way.
Things always gonna be the same.
The white will never give the black
Nothing but a whole lot of grief.
That dream is falling further back
Into a hole beyond belief.
All white pigs are the master's whip
To beat us down into the dirt.
Getting some payback is a trip.
Let whitey world feel some real hurt.

I cheer whoever takes a bite
Out of a ham sandwich on white.

My Pie Eating Man

Each year, the pie eating contest
Has been a part of Founder's Day
In our town. And with much zest,
My hubby has put pie away
To make him champ the last 3 years.
The day came for him to defend
His title amidst claps and cheers.
Hubby was still champ at the end.
As he went to get his trophy,
Hubby collapsed onto the floor,
A heart attack fatality.
Poor hubby would eat pie no more.

I guess if Hubby had to die,
It's good he went out full on pie.

Monstrous Moment

That little girl was a playmate
Of my daughter's. They played a lot.
Raped and killed was that girl's fate.
Shortly afterward, I was caught.
They say I don't fit the profile
Of doing such an awful act.
My lawyers want to say at trial
That I'm insane in law and fact.
I wish I'd found a better place
To hide the body for more time.
I should not have used my suitcase
To stuff the body of my crime.

I'm no she monster as a rule.
After all, I teach Sunday school.

The Good with the Bad

It was a Good Friday gone bad.
I'd finished up my priestly chores
From the service the Church had had.
Parishioners waited outdoors.
Driving toward them, I waved my hand.
Then the accelerator stuck.
There was no time to understand.
My own parishioners were struck
Thank God so far no one was killed,
But many were so badly hurt.
I can't believe it's what God willed.
Always evil lurks to convert.

I know that demons truly are.
One sure was with me in the car.

Colbert

Colbert told his listeners to
Tell NASA to name a new node
On the space station for guess who?
They did in voting overload.
This was not what NASA desired,
Giving the project a brand name.
So here's a thought that is inspired.
How 'bout that toilet of the fame
Of always going on the fritz?
Call it the Colbert for foul play,
In homage to the spacey shits
That may or may not flush away.

The toilet with its own laugh track,
Following each Colbert wise crack.

Progressively Worse

I had a fall, but I felt fine.
The nursing home got on my case.
So the decision was not mine.
The ER was to be the place
Where an ambulance would take me,
So that I could be all checked out.
That was nursing home policy.
I'm in the ambulance enroute,
When we are struck by a large truck.
I guess it could have been a train,
So I'm thankful for that good luck.
I don't feel fine though. I feel pain.

If I'd stayed at the home instead,
I'd be safe and sound in my bed.

Glad from Sad

I had heard the actress was dead.
She'd thought she had no injury.
But bleeding inside of her head
From a fall brought fatality.
Shortly after, my daughter fell.
Her head was struck with quite a blow.
Though she did seem perfectly well,
I took her to the ER, so
She could be checked out just in case.
Just like the actress who had died,
There was some bleeding in brain space.
I thanked the actress and I cried.

Her tragedy made me aware.
I got my child the needed care.

Passing Fancy

I saw the little girl at first,
Just walking along the highway,
Where things happen - the very worst.
I convinced her to ride my way.
She seemed to like and trust me, so
I said I'd drive her to a place
Where I had something fun to show,
And put a bright smile on her face.
She didn't smile. She cried and screamed
At all the things I did to her.
It wasn't at all as I dreamed.
How she got lifeless is a blur.

I threw away her cold body.
She was of no more use to me.

Pondering Poet

This poet likes to ponder death.
This constant, it does not rhyme well.
What happens after that last breath.
Is it really heaven or hell?
Or is it just a nothingness
That goes on for eternity?
I fall asleep and dream, I guess
Of when I die, then what will be.
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.
No more my body, real or ghost.
Just a fading memory, just
A pondering poet, almost.

I think this is a dream. Instead,
I ponder if I'm really dead.

Pursuit of Hairyless

The bikini wax from Brazil
As a remover of crotch hair,
Makes the gross embarrassment nil,
Of roaming, protruding strands there.
But a few infections have caused
This procedure to be outlawed.
If lawmakers had only paused,
And left alone my private bod,
I would not have to skulk around
To find a waxer willing to
Illegally clear out my mound,
Charging a fortune to do so.

Waxing rights a sight that is wrong,
That hair sticking out of my thong.

Misjudged

The driver ran through a red light.
I pursued with siren on live,
Keeping the speeder in my sight.
We pulled in a hospital drive.
The driver and a passenger
Ran for the door. The driver, I
Grabbed and held tightly onto her.
"My mother is about to die,"
She screamed, "Please just let me go in."
"You need a better tale," I said.
We continued to argue, when
A nurse came out. The Mom was dead.

It was a routine traffic stop,
That got me sure fired as a cop.

I work with security at
Bob Dylan's Malibu estate.
Neighbors started a nasty spat,
Saying their noses - I did grate,
My foul smell blowing in the wind.
Mr. Dylan defended me.
I consider him a good friend.
I'm here for his security.
The news picked up on this dispute.
Helicoptors flew overhead.
Tour buses made me a route.
My scent of celebrity spread.

My fans - they come from near and far
To see this porta potty star.

Win the Drawing

The lottery this year, I won.
It's sponsored by my church, so that
There will be a good fortune run
For all the congregation at
The ceremony, where I stand
Through my initiation rite.
The time for that is now at hand.
At the alter, I'm dressed in white.
I see my family below,
Children, parents, the man I wed.
My husband is the first to throw.
His hurled rock hits me in the head.

The winner of the lottery
Is stoned to death by family.

At the Time

I was watching my 6 year old
Being a boy on the playground,
Climbing and running, oh so bold,
Every move, adventure bound.
Then suddenly, I saw him fall,
As he was skipping on the grass.
He said he wasn't hurt at all,
So I just let the moment pass.
Later, at home, he said his head
Was hurting awful, so I took
Him to ER. They said he'd bled
Inside his brain, which had been shook.

If I had erred on caution's side,
Perhaps my son would not have died.

Saint Patrick

Teaching Irish the word of God
Was what I'd been divined to do.
Throughout the Ireland isle I'd trod
To turn the heathen to the true.
Driving the serpents to the coast,
I'd use the shamrock to preach
The Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
Some souls were very hard to reach.
At one village, I do recall,
I'd stuck my walking stick in ground,
Then tried to spread the word to all.
Time came and went around and round.

The effort was a long pursuit.
My walking stick had taken root.

Cutback

My ex-girlfriend dumped me real cold.
She said, "Here's your lousy ring back,"
Then stormed away. If truth be told,
I'm better off without that whack.
Then I got to thinking about
The other gifts I'd given her.
A couple cost a bunch, no doubt!
Retrieval does need to occur.
I expect she'll say no, of course.
So I'll confront her, prepared
To take both those gifts back by force,
And remind her that once I cared.

Just the ring back ain't gonna do.
I want those breast implants back too.

Implant

They stuck something inside my skin.
I could hear them talking about it.
It can gauge what shape I am in,
Update my data and transmit
Back to them, so that they can
Respond to whatever I need.
What's neat about this body scan,
When I want a fav drink or feed,
I input whatever request.
The gizmo in me has the knack
To send what I want to digest.
They quickly respond with feedback.

Today I am a high techy,
Yesterday just a plain fig tree.

Litter Hazard

The space shuttle was trying to
Maneuver through all of the junk,
That wherever the shuttle flew,
Got in the pathway chunk by chunk.
Over the last several years,
Satellites and other debris
Had greatly grown, and so the fears
That in time - a catastrophe.
The shuttle struck something unseen,
And all the systems were knocked off line.
The shuttle was a wrecked machine.
Ground could not confirm a life sign.

How to rescue - a question grave.
Would anyone be left to save?

Foretelling

I'm looking over a steep cliff,
And see the river far below,
Flowing so fast. I wonder if
I fell, then who would ever know.
My family is far away.
They only know I took a walk.
It would be much later today
Before my absence caused some talk.
The ground gives way under my feet.
Falling, I grab a ledge and hold.
Fiction and real suddenly meet.
I'm stuck. My yells echo back cold.

I'm losing grip. My hands are numb.
I don't think any help will come.
