Close to Heart

At times the human act of gift
Catches the public eye and heart.
The more human, the more the lift,
As though some wondrous work of art.
Often a donor will donate
A kidney to a dying one.
The two share no connecting fate,
Except that gift that can be done.
Such a gift made anonymous,
Putting at risk the donor some,
Should truly inspire all of us,
Of good a human can become.

The why and how and what to give
Makes a human useful to live.
