 Tea Time with Gaisha

I had heard of this gaisha who

Was a poetess of renown.

And so I visited her to

Share some tea in Tokyo town.

She was a lovely lady and

With beauty in her poems as well,

Which helped me better understand

Why she was well known to excel

In the poetic form of art,

Which she so happily did share

With me, and so much touched my heart,

A tea time so extraordinaire.

The gaisha and I sipped our tea,

And read each other's poetry.

 Leonardo da Vinci, Polymath

Leonardo da Vinci be

A polymath or one who knows

Many diverse subjects, and he

Used well his knowledge which still shows.

Painter, sculptor, inventor and

Musician, scientist, he was

So curious to understand

More of the unknown world that does

Be matters over which a mind

Of genius like da Vinci could,

Answers to many questions, find,

As all his multitasking would.

Of course back in da Vinci's day,

Infant knowledge was underway.

 Model of Good Taste

I see a handsome young man who

Is standing in the sea knee deep.

I have nothing better to do,

And so my eye on him I keep.

A swim suit model I would guess,

Smiling for the camera so

Capitalism can progress,

Hoping the swim suit sales will go

On the increase, being worn by

One oozing lots of sex appeal.

Circling this tasty looking guy,

I have selected my next meal.

All humans look alike to me,

This shark can say quite truthfully.

 No Weakness Shown

I grew up in a time and place

When it was deemed a weakness to

Have others see upon my face

Any crying that I would do.

So when I was five years old, I

Was with my dog, Rusty, alone

When he died, I wanted to cry,

Allowing my sadness be shown.

But the rest of the family

Came out to the back patio

Where my Rusty and I did be.

So my sadness I would not show.

No way I'd let weakness appear.

So from my eyes I wiped all tear.

 Karius and Bactus

Karius and Bactus, we be

Tooth trolls that take up residence

In careless humans' teeth, and we

Love making decay we dispense.

Of course the humans help us out,

Eating lots of sugar foods that

Give us the incentive no doubt

To live well in teeth habitat.

And all the better if we get

Very few visits from those two,

The brush and rinse, which just upset

All of the bad work that we do.

We suffer the most dreadful fuss

When a dentist comes visit us.

 Tile Tale

Bathroom tile I ordered online

From eTile I was told were sent.

But then I heard all was not fine.

There was shipping mismanagement,

Allowing the tiles to fall off

The truck that the tiles were shipped on.

Hearing of this, I had to scoff,

Such negligent phenomenon.

And eTile made the matter worse,

Told me no more bathroom tiles be

Available, and I did curse

At the excuses given me.

This whole ordeal made me so mad

At e wrecked tile dysfunction had.

 Uninvited Poetic Endeavor

I sit down at my desk to write

A rhyming poem that's full of fun.

But suddenly I'm filled with fright,

Being watched  by an unknown one.

My hand with pen that I do hold

I can't control, my fright does climb.

I see words written dark and cold

By my hand and with end line rhyme.

Who is Lenore? There is her name,

And apparently she is dead.

Is my mind playing a weird game?

I look up from the page in dread.

Then on my desk, how can it be?

A raven's staring back at me.

 Angel or Demon?

Angel or demon be my choice,

And I have chosen each of them.

My mood does determine who's voice

Convinces me, bliss or mayhem?

The angel tells me to do good.

The demon tells me to do bad.

Most of my life the likelihood

Was I chose what the angel had

To advise of how I should act.

But in a few dark moments, I

Went the demon's way for a fact.

Ashamed of such, I can't deny.

I'm older and wiser, no doubt.

Angel over demon wins out.

 Stormbound

The clouds roll quickly from the west,

First white, then grey, then greyer still.

Unprotected, I know it's best

To seek shelter, or soon I will

Be feeling all this storm will bring.

But my mind is set in a trance

Under the dark clouds, fulfilling

With flash and rumble their fast dance

Across the sky and over me.

I feel first raindrops on my face,

But still I stay where I do be,

Sole audience in time and place.

Watch and hear this moving art form,

Caught spellbound to weather this storm.

 Detour Around

I'm driving home and there's road work.

Detour in a circle round.

Traffic delay does really irk

As I continue homeward bound.

Some more road work again, I must

Circle in a detoured route.

Then back on course I do adjust.

I'm very frustrated no doubt.

Then for the third time I do hit

Road work and detour once more,

Again a circle, I'm in it.

Detouring does drive me sore.

At last get home, I'm so glad to say,

But in an unmerry go round way.

 Misspelling

I am a wizard with my wand,

In the Forbidden Forest be.

My fire power spell goes beyond

What I intended, naughty me.

Cuz I set the forest on fire,

And Smokey Bear is quite upset.

I want to put out Smokey's ire.

A second spell I need to get,

That makes the first spell go away.

So in reverse my wand I wave,

And backward the fire chant I say.

Fire disappears, forest I save.

Smokey Bear's pleased with my unburn.

Off, my fire power wand I turn.

 My Turn

Being Count Dracula you'd think

The wife would give me the night off

To have fun finding blood to drink.

But no, the wife at this did scoff,

And said other plans she had made,

So now I had to take my turn.

Not wanting to hear her tirade,

I gave in but did a slow burn,

That doing this was beneath me,

And hoped this night would be done soon.

As a vexed vampire I did be

Surrounded under the full moon.

It's a real pain having to do it,

Taking my turn  at bat baby sit.

 Of Spoken Truth

When  a teenager falls in love,

Often is silent about such,

Insecure about speaking of

Love's feelings that pain youth so much.

If the teenager makes the choice

To speak of such love openly,

There is benefit giving voice,

No matter what the outcome be.

The teenager is wiser for

Speaking of love that's felt in truth,

Even if it is nothing more

Than the wishful maybe of youth.

Speaking of love is better, why?

Less regrets when it's time to die.

 Rescued

An orphan kid kidnapped and I

Found a bottle and put inside

A message pleading someone try

To rescue me, so terrified

That nobody would know or care

About me being victimized.

Was there anybody out there

Finding the bottle, sympathized

With my message of please help me?

When my hope for rescue got bleak,

Heroes from Disney came to be,

And rescue of me they did seek.

My rescuers were very nice,

It mattered not that they were mice.

 The Fox and the Stars

The Chippewa people tell of

How all the many stars came to

Be scattered through the sky above.

Ojishonda was the one who,

As ruler of starland, did take

A bag of stars and place each night

One star, but once for weary sake,

He took a nap, and with delight

His fun loving pet fox did throw

The whole bag of stars to the sky.

Ojishonda awoke, oh no,

His pet fox looked at him so sly.

Ojishonda, forgiving one,

Forgave his fox for having fun.

 Tension Relief

When I got home from work my wife

Had a delicious meal for me.

She could ease any stress and strife

That through my day happened to be.

And after dinner my wife gave

Me the look that I follow her.

A peacock feather she did wave

In very tempting way for sure.

In the bedroom she took off my

Clothes and pushed me onto the bed.

I did not need to ask her why,

Just lay back and enjoy instead.

My wife feathered me to delight,

Tickling my fancy through the night.

For a second term, but he went

On, humanity's work he did.

The globe became his neighborhood.

Many a time, many a place

He be a neighbor doing good

On behalf of the human race.

A Nobel Peace Prize winner, he

Spent decades striving to help peace.

Around the world where conflict be,

His tireless efforts would not cease.

As role model for good to give,

Jimmy Carter will always live.

 Bet Set in Verse

The devil plays a betting game,

Winning the bets the devil's goal.

So bet Johnny boy with the aim

Of winning Johnny boy's sweet soul.

The bet was who could fiddle best,

Johnny boy or the devil, so

The two would fiddle in a test,

And both would fiddle a good show.

Johnny boy would bet his soul, and

Fiddle of gold the devil bet.

They each took their fiddle in hand,

And the fiddler's contest was set.

This bet made in song early versed.

Who won and cheered, who lost and cursed?

 Fine Future for Few

Future is positive for few

Humans who one day will control

The whole world with their point of view.

These few are achieving their goal.

So called free world aids and abets

These few in fulfilling their aim.

Wars, pandemics and other yets,

These few play dirty in their game.

The free world youth be dumbed down so

They'll follow the pied piping lies,

Serving these few as the youth grow

Up brainwashed, really no surprise!

Who be these few with such resource?

Be the Chinese leaders of course.

 Griffin Guards Gold

I'm called the griffin and I be

Part lion and part eagle, so

Superior strength is within me,

As many peoples came to know.

I live with my kind, young and old,

And we achieve our greatest worth

Being protectors of the gold

Found anyplace around the Earth.

Why guard the gold I'm often asked.

Lions and eagles aren't gold fans.

I don't know why we were so tasked,

But people crave gold through time spans.

In modern time I will return.

Fort Knox, destination I yearn.

 Stay With Wild Flowers

This time the place for holiday

I chose is called Earth, and I beamed

Into a wild flower display.

As a life form these flowers seemed

Very friendly to be around,

Unlike those nasty humans that

I studied as I was Earthbound.

As a life form humans were at

A level of keep away from,

Having the highest Earth I.Q.

But as for common sense, quite dumb.

So stay with flowers I would do.

These wild flowers, for what it's worth,

Are prettiest life form on Earth.

 Mistakes Be Mine

When I recognize a mistake,

Who was it made by I must ask.

I hope it wasn't me, gosh sake,

Cuz then my conscience has a task

To amend erring I have done.

It is the AA tenth step and

Always suggested, never fun.

Those in AA can understand.

But when the mistake is not mine,

Again AA suggests that I

Forgive, though I am not divine.

Living my life better is why.

How to live with mistakes does be

Gift AA has given to me.

 Truth Tale I Tell

Only those read my poem

Who do not know me, which shall mean

I probably do not know them,

So truth does not need intervene.

And I can pen any tall tale,

Like pen a tiger and a deer

Give to other a hearty hail,

And hang out together in cheer.

Becuz unlike we humans do,

The tiger and deer live no lie,

Come together and they prove true,

It's nature that the deer does die.

It's nature too that humans kill,

But lie about it, humans will.

 Penalty for Cutting in Line

I was next in line to check out.

There were lots of folks behind me.

And then a no no came about.

This lady showed up suddenly

In front of me, cutting in line.

I knew the supermarket rule.

Responsibility was mine.

I asked the folks behind me who'll

Join with us in purpose to teach

This lady a lesson not to

Be cutting in line and so each

Prepared for line duty to do.

We all in line stayed pretty calm,

As we soup canned to death my mom.

 Survival Instinct

Through the forest does rage the fire,

Consuming all in its pathway.

For my survival I aspire.

In forest home I cannot stay.

I probably lingered too long

Before choosing to take my flight.

Forces against me are so strong,

As I take off into the night.

Sparks and ashes fly all around

Me as my journey does begin,

Toward unknown destiny be bound.

Wings afire, I go in tailspin.

Above the fire in darkened sky,

Final flight for this butterfly.

 Dead

In Deadwood, South Dakota, I

Am in the saloon all alone,

Drinking a Grateful Dead with rye.

I deal a poker hand that's shown

As aces and eights I gave fame,

And called the dead man's hand it is,

When bad guy Jack McCall took aim,

And shot me in the back, gee whiz.

On the jukebox "Dead Disco' plays,

But there's no one around to dance.

Like me, this sound had better days,

But was fated by happenstance.

Still of me be written and said,

And Wild Bill Hickok still lives dead.

 Psyche

Psyche, a Greek princess, became

The most beautiful woman in

The mortal world, and so the blame

Of her by jealous did begin,

For daring to have beauty that

Surpassed even goddesses who

Turned their mighty wrath and scorn at

Psyche, and her misery grew.

When greatest god, Zeus, heard of this,

He warned those jealous to beware,

And gave Psyche his divine bliss

With immortality to share.

Psyche left mortality of

Greece and wed Eros, god of love.

 Queen Mary's Coming!

Britain's Queen Mary was known for

Tweaking kleptomania so

She got lots of good stuff galore

From homes of subjects where she'd show.

Instead of stealing stuff, the Queen

Would simply tell the owner that

She liked the stuff and smile serene.

The owner felt forced diplomat,

And gave the stuff reluctantly.

After a while when the Queen would,

Ahead of time be known to be

Visiting, some did what they could.

Before Queen Mary made her call,

To the attic went good stuff all.

 My Downhill Solo

When I was a five year old tyke

Mom and Dad took me to a hill

For my first ride upon a bike.

My excitement I can feel still.

At the top of the hill I sat

Upon the bike, then Mom let go

For my first bike ride that

I was all by myself to know

The thrill of such a first time feat.

At the bottom of the hill, Dad

Was waiting there for me to meet.

He stopped the bike, but toss I had.

Some mixed feelings we two both felt,

As I struck Dad below the belt.

 These Walls Keep Talking

I wake up to the talk of walls

Around me in a playful mood,

Teasing me with their whispered calls.

I cup my ears to hope their rude

Taunts of me would be silenced out.

But still the walls talking does be

Heard by me so I loudly shout

At the walls to show me mercy.

But the walls know that I am one

To bully in my helpless state.

I swear these walls are having fun

At the expense of my sealed fate.

I hear these walls talk and they tell

Me get used to this padded cell.

From a night of hot sex that was.

There's laughter from the class galore

And continues for quite a while.

But when it is quiet once more,

"If that's the case then understand"

"You can write with your other hand."

If I will live God's will I would

Choose to live all of my life in

Pursuit of helping others be

On the righteous path without sin,

So helping others will help me.

But in all time and place I must

Avoid a willful selfish aim.

In God's will I need always trust.

From all those wicked humans who

Wreak havoc with the games they play,

And bad upon the dragons do.

From the old woman the young five

Dragons be given knowledge of

How to prevail, not just survive,

Given to each with Mother's love.

Mother Daenerys read tales to share.

 Snuff

Back in the 1800's, I

Was a very popular thing

To use for a nicotine high,

Smokeless tobacco powdering.

Dry, I'd be inhaled up the nose.

Moist, placed between the gum and cheek.

Different flavors and scents were chose

To make me even more unique.

Headache, stomach bug and cold cure,

All sorts of folks used me galore.

In tins or pouches stashed we were.

Also a remedy for snore.

In time and place I was hot stuff,

And the folks fondly called me snuff.
