My pal, victim of hit and run.

The operator asked where I

Was, after I'd called 911.

"Eucalyptus Road," my reply,

"28's the address we're at."

The operator asked of me,

"The road name, would you please spell that?"

"Just to assure there's clarity."

I knew I had to make a choice.

Took time, the effort made me groan.

Hearing the operator's voice,

Breathless I got back on the phone,

"I'm so sorry for the delay."

"I dragged my pal 'round to Pine Way."
