 Christmas Cards

'Twas the night before Christmas and

All through the night the reindeer played

Lots of poker, hand after hand.

Santa was nervously dismayed.

"C'mon you guys," Santa did plead,

"The clock is running, time to go."

"Playing poker is fun indeed."

"But kids must come first, doncha know!"

The reindeer grumbled but they knew

Santa was right, so stopped their game.

And on schedule away all flew,

With Merry Christmas as the aim.

And while the reindeer did pull the sleigh,

Video poker Santa did play.

 Thor's Final battle

Thor, in old Norse mythology,

The hammer wielding great god of

Lightning, thunder and storms, Thor be.

Often from the heavens above

Thor would come for evil to fight.

Many such battles Thor would win.

But at Ragnarok one dark night

Thor's final battle did begin

With an evil sea serpent who

Strikes Thor with a bite in surprise.

Thor with his hammer then does do

Beating the snake to its demise.

The great god, Thor, nine steps did take,

Then died from venom of the snake.

 Desert Dancer

In the desert alone at night,

Stranded, I have lost track of time.

Then suddenly in the moonlight

Coming quickly toward me and I'm

Seeing lots of sand in a swirl,

Amid in colorful costume

Is a beautiful dancing girl,

Who is performing, I assume,

To give some pleasure to those who,

Like me, are stuck in a sad state.

For precious moments she does do

Take my mind off of my dire fate.

Most likely a mirage I see,

But such a lovely show for me.

 Strange

I was watching, walking along,

The beautiful evening sky,

Inspired a poem and a song,

Expressing gratitude that I

Was able to enjoy this change

Of my normal environment.

Suddenly staring at me strange,

That something weird I did present,

Was a clowder of cats who may

Cause me lots of bodily harm.

Of course I was concerned, but they

Turned and ran off, screeching alarm.

It was a complete mystery

How this fish out of water be.

 Gathering of Stones

We looked to heaven for a sign,

Which came and told us the task true,

A hard task but a task divine,

A gathering of stones to do.

Quite huge in weight, quite far away,

The stones to gather by us were.

For years we labored night and day,

Gathering these stones to assure

That there would be in time and place

These stones to point  to heaven for

Our belief in good healing grace

Be upon us forevermore.

After gathering the stones, we

Prayed and Stonehenge came to be.

 Bunnies Believe

It is another Christmas Eve.

Outside the home the bunnies be

Waiting because they too believe.

When it's time for a Christmas tree,

It's also time for gifts to get.

And nice bunnies do get gifts too,

And each knows it is a good bet,

Since each is nice the whole year through.

Waiting patiently in the snow

The bunnies watch up in the sky.

And when they hear a "Ho Ho Ho,"

They know their gifts are quite nearby.

A merry time of year because

Bunnies believe in Santa Claus.

 Naughty Still

I was a naughty kid all year,

So Xmas time from Jolly Ol'

On guess what list I did appear,

And only got a lump of coal.

This really made me mad and so

The whole next year more coal I got.

'Twas pay back time for Ho Ho Ho.

This Yule is gonna get real hot.

Again Xmas, so gasoline

I pour on the coal and then light.

But then something I'd not foreseen.

Suddenly I am lit up bright.

It's me not Santa who I roast.

So now I'll be a naughty ghost.

 Christmas Shocking

It's Christmas Eve and I can't sleep,

So out of bed, downstairs I sneak,

Careful so I don't make a peep.

I just wanna get me a peek

At Santa Claus when he gets here.

Not too long on my hiding place,

I see Santa who does appear.

He and Momma come face to face.

What happens next surprises me.

Maybe I'm having a weird dream.

Santa and Momma, what I see,

Is quite a shock, I wanna scream.

I have to cover my mouth because

I see Momma kissing Santa Claus.

 The Annunciation

God sent angel Gabriel to

Visit Mary and to tell her

She had God's favor, pure and true,

And had nothing to fear for sure.

Then Gabriel told Mary, she

Would become pregnant and give birth

To a son named Jesus and he

Would be the Savior for all Earth.

Mary, a virgin, asked how could

She become pregnant with this child?

The angel said such would be good,

Because upon her God had smiled.

Jesus Christ born to be the King.

 Go to Sleep

Take you back to Eden you plead,

A grieving vessel empty of

All the good in you once indeed,

Especially fulfilled with love.

But then like a moth to the fire,

You flew unthinking of what cost

Awaited your due payment dire,

And when you paid, then you were lost.

Now from the bottom where you fell

You scream to be taken back to

The bliss of Eden from your hell.

But first there's something you need do.

You need do searching your soul deep,

And come to peace and go to sleep.

Mystery drones, U.S. east coast,

U.F.O.s of the sci fi kind?

Enemies who spy on us most?

Big biz delivery designed?

One theory that is given be

The Fed Department of Defense

Is testing drone technology

For weapon use, which does make sense,

Cuz behind is the U.S.A.

In using drones in armed warfare,

And are preparing for the day

When test drones here will drop bombs there.

 "White Christmas"

"White Christmas," Irving Berlin said

Was the best song he ever wrote.

From this Jewish immigrant's hand

Came this sweet dream in simple note.

Bing Crosby first sang the song in

A movie during World War II

When vast listeners longed again

For peace and joy of Christmas true.

Growing up in Wyoming, I

Enjoyed most Christmases in white.

I am ever so grateful my

Christmases as a kid were bright.

May "White Christmas" dreams never cease.

May all the world have joy and peace.

 Cheated On No More

I learned my wife did like to roam,

To share the beds with other men.

She was not one to stay at home.

Adultery for her no sin.

I begged my wife to change her ways.

But she would only laugh at me.

Cheating on me seemed not to faze

Her, leaving me in misery.

One night my wife came home quite late.

I snuck up and I strangled her.

Embalmed in the tub was her fate.

No more cheating on me for sure.

My wife stays home, now that she's dead.

For always now, she'll share my bed.

 Ride for Real

I'm on a motorcycle and

I'm ridin' into the sunset.

Maybe I'll stop in Disneyland.

I haven't quite decided yet.

But then there's a noise in the hall.

I'm back in real time, sad to find

My motorcycle ride is all

Just some pretending in my mind.

Then out of my window I see

A motorbike parked on the street,

Engine humming, calling to me.

Off I go, destiny to meet.

My chance to be free and to roam,

Escapin' from the old folks home.

 Trouble Brewed

Hubby knew that coffee and I

Needed some time each morn alone.

When first wed, I'd told Hubby my

Such need in no uncertain tone.

All went well on this for a while.

But then one morn, Hubby showed up

With some coffee and with a smile,

Not a word, handing me a cup.

Displeased, to calm myself I took

A sip, and awful was the taste.

I gave Hubby a scathing look,

And he did disappear in haste.

Hubby was history of course.

He'd given me grounds for divorce.

 Square Scare

A square, I was so proud to be,

A plane figure of perfection

With four equal straight sides of me,

And with each four corner section

Of mine with a right angle so

Of geometrical design

Giving me good reason to show

Off all these perfect parts of mine.

Such showing off I was one day,

When in a bad storm I was caught,

Was pushed and pulled every which way,

Suffered disfigurement a lot.

No more a perfect square, such shame,

Cuz a wrecked angle I became.

 My First Ever Hemorrhoid

I was a college freshman when

A bowel movement I struggled on.

Shortly after, awful pain in

My butt, a new phenomenon

I had not experienced before.

Of course the big "C" I thought first.

Student health diagnosed my sore

As a formed hemorrhoid that had burst.

Relieved, no cancer, got some goop

For it, glad it no longer bled.

Later, I called Mom with my scoop.

I heard Mom laugh and then she said,

"I remember my first 'roid too."

"I got it when pregnant with you."

 The Tortoise Closed In

I'm enjoying the sunny day,

Then all of a sudden I'm not.

A tortoise is coming my way.

Tortoises like my kind a lot,

So I have heard such stories spread

By others like me through the air.

But I so far was spared this dread.

But now a tortoise is right there,

Plodding along with its huge shell,

Sniffing the breeze then turns its eyes

In the direction of my smell,

Opens its jaws, sensing the prize.

The tortoise takes a bite of me,

Unlucky hibiscus I be.

Such a hunger I feel for you.

And so I beckon that you be

A willing soul and will pursue

A salvation that I can give

You that so very few receive.

With me forever you will live.

You only need to just believe

That coming with me will indeed

Fill you with joy as shadows flood

To take your will, because I need

You to seal this deal with your blood.

Come with me in darkness to dwell.

Just sign up and we'll go to hell.

 The Train Set

My neighbor's son had a train set

Which I had wanted when a kid.

But my mean parents would not let

I broke in one night and I stole

Grown up and now achieved my goal.

Next morning the cops did present

At my front door, and I knew they

Suspected me as the thief, so

I threw over the train display

Blankets so the set would not show.

With the cops I tried to relax,

Hoping I had covered my tracks.

 Raphael and Azazel

The fallen angel Azazel

Taught humankind how to wage war,

So God sent angel Raphael

To stop such sin forevermore.

And Raphael, Heaven sent found

Azazel, who in their fight, lost.

The loser's hands and feet were bound,

And into the desert was tossed,

His face covered so that he might

Be kept in darkness with no way

Ever again to see the light,

Be so condemned till Judgement Day.

But sadly Heaven still would find

That war be waged by humankind.

 Have to Suffice Skating

Mom says that I am too young to

Go ice skating even though I

Tell Mom that all of my friends do.

But Mom tells me back with a sigh

That not my friends' Mom does she be,

Not her decision if they skate,

But it's her decision for me,

And her decision is I wait.

I know there's nothing more to say

To Mom to make her change her mind.

So I go to the front hallway,

The polished wood floor there to find.

It's pretend ice skating I've gone,

Slide on the floor with my socks on.

"A Question," poem written by

Robert Frost, a time in his life

When he might ask a question why

He had borne so much pain and strife

That loss of many loved ones bring.

And often Frost in depressed state

Might wonder why such suffering,

And why his life gave such dire fate.

But Frost lived on many more years,

Writing more wealth of poetry,

Appealing to all worldwide spheres,

Grateful that Robert Frost did be.

His answer, his epitaph might add.

"A lover's quarrel with the world," Frost had.

 Love with Light

Can you come over tonight and

Will I let you and your love in?

I've tried to make you understand

That big dark love you bring with you

Is just too big and dark for me.

All the complaining that you do,

I end up with your misery.

Whatever you are asking for,

I no longer do want to give.

I just can't take you anymore.

Without you, better, I can live.

No, you can't come over tonight.

 Jury Still Deliberating

Acting in a manner bizarre,

And yelling that this was no joke.

A white man put the black man in

A chokehold learned as a Marine.

Black versus white case did begin

When the black man died on the scene.

Colors involved so case was brought.

Was it murder or self defense?

Heavy burden the jury's got,

Mixed emotions and evidence.

How this case finally turns out,

Subway riders pay heed no doubt.

 My Wish By Year End

I pen a lot of poems with

The hope that maybe the next one

Will make critiques of me a myth

That poor poems are all I've done.

My rhymes are forced, my meter's off,

My poems never make a point.

Put down the pen my critics scoff,

Getting my nose way out of joint.

I promised myself that this year

I'd show the critics that I could

Prove them wrong as I persevere

To pen a poem really good.

Just a few weeks until year end.

My perfect poem still needs penned.

 Unfolding for Me

A blue umbrella feeling blue.

Many a storm I sheltered them.

But over time, wear and tear grew

From affects of stormy mayhem.

And in this last storm, sadly I

Did rip and break apart at last,

As wind and rain raged from the sky.

I heard the cursing, then was cast

To the ground as trash thrown away,

Miserable in my useless state.

No doubt this was my bleakest day,

As I lamented my dire fate.

A miracle happens to me.

Blue in the rainbow I now be.

The favorite time of the year,

And Momma makes a lot of fuss

To make a Merry Christmas here

At home which she is doing now,

As she calls and tells me to go

Do something I know why and how,

And stand under the mistletoe.

When Momma gives me a sweet kiss,

This dragon's filled with merry bliss.

And then did name his new friend, Blue.

About this she was quite concerned.

"We need trees," she told Paul, "So please,"

"Saving trees is a lesson learned."

Paul agreed and now the two be

Giant friends to every tree.

Sense Sonnet - Pumper

 Dream of Candyland

I dreamed I was in Candyland

Where everything was candy made,

Which I could see and understand.

So in this dream a while I stayed,

And listened to the candy call

To come and check each candy out.

I got in touch with candy all.

Each candy smelled so good no doubt.

Of course when sensing candy, I

Knew one sense was top of list placed,

So to each candy did apply

My all important sense of taste.

Five sensing Candyland, then wake,

And sense I have a tummy ache.
