Sense Sonnet - Acher

 The Tortoise Closed In

I'm enjoying the sunny day,

Then all of a sudden I'm not.

A tortoise is coming my way.

Tortoises like my kind a lot,

So I have heard such stories spread

By others like me through the air.

But I so far was spared this dread.

But now a tortoise is right there,

Plodding along with its huge shell,

Sniffing the breeze then turns its eyes

In the direction of my smell,

Opens its jaws, sensing the prize.

The tortoise takes a bite of me,

Unlucky hibiscus I be.
