Woof Down

A North Korean name of Lee
Escaped and came to the U.S.
And stayed here with my family
Until he got his own address.
We were having a barbecue,
Roasting hot dogs in the back yard,
Showing Lee the roast how to do.
Lee liked his meat all black and charred.
Into his mouth those dogs did fly,
So many that we needed more.
Lee said he'd get a fresh supply.
We thought Lee had gone to the store.

The neighbors called to ask us if
We had seen their terrier, Tiff.

Polygaffes

All politicians lie and gaffe,
And the more in the public eye,
The pol is on a polygraph
To catch the pol in any lie,
Which supporters choose to ignore,
While critics pounce on in mean glee.
Prez contenders do lie galore,
On purpose and not purposely,
Even though each really does know
Their ev'ry word will stick around,
Constant reminders to bestow
Butt bites, as they are White House bound.

But few call liar of a prez.
It's just misspeaks what POTUS sez.

Medgar Evers

His death is known more than his life.
A veteran of World War II.
A college classmate as his wife.
Dreams of a family come true.
He got active in civil rights,
Working for change by peaceful ways.
But others chose violent fights.
But still he worked for better days,
Exposing wrong that did exist,
And turning right some of that wrong.
But then a white supremacist
Decised he had lived too long.

Medgar Evers was shot and killed,
Overshadowing life fulfilled.

Cyclosis

Going from U.S to Bhutan,
Going on a jet plane that burns
Fossil fuels so I can get on
A bike and ride the twists and turns
Of the Himalayan high peaks
To chat with folks along the way,
Rubbing blisters upon my cheeks,
To put the climate on display.
The climate needs me and my kind
To help save it from you and me.
The more we try the more we'll find
Hot air is all we really be.

My mission - one group really likes -
The manufacturers of bikes.

Mailman Tail Ran

I am the postman who got caught
On camera taking a dump.
The only excuse that I've got,
Is night before chile did jump
From my bowel in rapid flow.
Propriety - no time or place.
I had no choice, I had to go.
It was an open, no shut case.
After making delivery,
I knew I was due for a wipe.
That yard was a good place to be.
The grass gave a first class butt swipe.

Being on the you know what list,
Gives going postal a new twist.

Flunk the Flunkers

Some of the kids that come to school
Don't get breakfast before they come.
So the school suits did make a rule -
All kids eat junk food - kind of dumb.
Chocolate snaps, crackles and pops
Into the mouths, crumbs on the floor,
Which aren't the only messy drops.
Mice are showing up more and more.
While the kids are putting pounds on,
Taxpayers are getting ripped off.
This really peeves Roma and Don.
Across the airwaves they did scoff.

Maybe Michelle Obama heard
And will weigh into this absurd.

Return to Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu was a prime pick
For relics by Hiram Bingham
Of National Geographics.
Yale U. had a study program
To study the relics on loan.
But when Peru wanted them back,
Yale said no in a nasty tone,
Causing a lot of messy flack.
It only took a hundred years,
All the relics will go back to
The rightful land and peoples spheres,
Go back home to Machu Picchu.

To show the world, relics do roam,
But it's nice when they can go home.

Score Supreme

Kids have the first amendment right
To violent videogames
So says the Supreme Court's all might
On where the Constitution aims.
So now a new game hits the scene,
"Supreme Court Justices Must Die"
Nine justices are on the screen.
The gameplayer to win must try
To kill each justice one by one,
Using a diff'rent means each time.
Just nine minutes to get all done.
Points accumulate for each crime.

Liberal or conservative,
The game is let no justice live.

Smoke Rejecter

We know how hard bad habits are
For grown ups to wise up and quit.
But children are better by far
To take truth and really get it.
Use the kid's homes, churches and schools
To make anti smoking hard core.
Graphic results are useful tools.
Let the kids see the worst, then more.
There's nothing like peer pressure to
Influence a kid how to act,
On what to do or not to do.
Not smoking will grow from kid fact.

Show and tell the kids it's no joke
On why no one should ever smoke.

Accessorizings

At the wedding it was THE hat
That set the watching world to muse
"What in wacky headwear is THAT?"
Princess Beatrice seemed to ooze
The pinkish pretzel from her brow.
Photoshoppers had a field day.
Wonder was where is that hat now?
To the Derby it made its way,
And to bin Laden's now dead head,
As flipper for The Donald's curls,
As Charlie Sheen's muzzle - 'nuf said,
As birth control for big sized girls.

On eBay in the auction game,
THE hat does tick tock on in fame.

Pass Gas

Chauffered for the rest of his life,
Obama wants the price of gas
To rise high, no matter the strife.
He wants the transit to be mass.
High speed trains are Obama's pet.
Oil trains need can come from Brazil.
Pandering for votes is the bet
Whenever Obama says, "Drill."
Americans, each with a car,
Is capitalist pig gone wild.
Obama's got a choo choo czar
To make us more Euro track styled.

The Prez, unsaid on his campaign,
"Go to hell on a high speed train."

Marshall Matt Dillon

Marshall Matt Dillon on T.V.
Kept Dodge City safe in Gunsmoke.
With Long Branch madam, Miss Kitty,
Old Doc, Festus and other folk,
Each week Matt would set in prime time
An example of what was best
In dealing with bad guys of crime
And taming up the wild wild west.
The baby boomers grew up with
Matt Dillon's clean and wholesome brand.
Maybe it was only a myth,
But back then that was T.V. land.

Forever the smoke from his gun,
Matt Dillon rides in the rerun.

Loose Teeth

Dad went to the hospital for
A two day minor surgery.
His dentures fell onto the floor.
They were given mistakenly
To the patient right next to Dad.
And then this patient up and died,
Which was sad, but even more sad,
The corpse had Dad's dentures inside.
When Dad complained his teeth were gone,
The staff checked the morgue roomy out,
Whose mouth had an extra add on.
Returned, Dad was relieved no doubt.

About where the teeth had been at -
No need for Dad to chew on that.

Morale Booster

Bob Hope gave soldiers fifty years
Of U.S.O. entertainment.
Through times of war and peace, the cheers
Charged Hope's heart wherever he went.
But good cheer was not always fast,
Especially with wounded ones.
If any joke punchlines were cast,
Let the injured hit the homeruns.
Hope would play second fiddle straight,
And give the soldiers lines to make
A bit of fun out of a fate
That fell upon for freedom's sake.

The soldier closed with one last grin,
Then death took over life within.

Done Chicago, done it my way,
But all good things come to an end.
Rahmster's taking over today,
Mayor me is gone with the wind.
But I wanna go with some perks,
Police/chauffer/gofer detail.
Keep me away from common jerks,
No bugging my phones or my mail.
And for fifty grand at a pop,
Talking deep stuff the way I do.
Lavish trips to China to swap
Tales of gov corruption how to.

To the bank, giggling high pitch,
Out of office, just call me RICH.

The head of the IMF fund,
A wealthy socialist - do say!
Has sex packed woes as might be punned.
The great seducer as he's known
Attacked a hotel chambermaid,
Desiring her body on loan.
A price for lust is always paid.
DSK was pulled from first class,
Arrested and taken to jail.
As the sordid details amass,
This horney sosh is gonna fail.

DSK's roomy in the klink,
Bubba gives him a prime rate wink.

School Marm

Oprah Winfrey has left the school,
Twenty five years of teaching life,
Of how to live the Golden Rule
In times of joy, in times of strife.
She taught of love of life and God,
Within the each to reach for all.
No human spirit is too flawed
To respond to the divine call.
From roots of poverty but pride,
She prospered on the T.V screen,
And made a great empire worldwide.
For now she takes leave of that scene.

She praised, "To God be the glory."
Oprah - one glorious story.

I am a Russian spy, I am.
For years and years I've done my stuff
To make the U.S. squirm. Hot damn!
But of course it's never enough.
Yes, leaking this and leaking that
Has shown some nice cause and effect.
But I have plans for where I'm at
To be the tear down architect
Of the U.S. in self destruct,
To make my mischief from within,
Until America is sucked
To the bottom of the trash bin.

Higher and higher go my crimes,
Moving up in the New York Times.

Willie Gillis

Willie Gillis of World War II
Portrayed by Norman Rockwell as
American G.I., true blue,
One of all America has
For freedom, fighting the good fight,
Then coming home safe to fulfill
A future promising and bright
To college on the G.I. bill.
In wars today, no Willie's shown
The sight and sound bytes give no face.
Coverage keeps a high tech tone
To keep up with war's modern pace.

Yet, the American G.I.
Fights for freedom for you and I.

Pippa and Porn

Dear Mr. Hirsch: Thank you so much
For your letter inviting me
To bare my bod and get in touch
With all in the porn industry.
I rang the Queen and asked her for
Her thoughts on being a porn star.
Her Majesty giggled galore,
The sounds of which were quite bizarre.
"Go for it girl," the Queen did urge,
"You might as well cash in on fame."
"The scandals more or less do merge."
"If I were younger, I'd be game."

So Mr. Hirsch, it sounds like fun.
Yours Nudely, Pippa Middleton.

The bigger that Big Gov has got
The smaller the chance there will be
That smallifying will be sought
If it's a negative on me.
My entitlements are my right,
Big Gov has always told me so.
I won't lose them without a fight.
Let somebody else's stuff go,
And from somebody else take more,
And then give some to me becuz
The me's outnumber them's galore.
Big Gov knows that, yep Big Gov does.

Big Gov can cut - that's good and fine,
But just don't cut from me and mine.

So bin Laden most probably,
In poses not of his preferreds,
Was pictured dead as dead can be.
A thousand words and millions more
Do want those pictures to be shown.
There is worldwide demand galore
To view the gory flesh and bone.
These pix are worth big bucks of course.
Big gov charging to take a peek
Could start a new revenue source,
A cash for carnage, so to speak.

Here's what the government should do -
Put out the pix as pay per view.

Tiny Consumers

They thought that the planet might be
Capable of sustaining life.
So they landed, and they did see
Evidence of turmoil and strife.
Ruins showing life forms once were,
And apparently did evolve.
But mass extinction did occur,
And why that happened they did solve.
A certain bacteria strain
Ate anything that it could find,
And gobbled up the whole food chain -
All the plant and animal kind.

They did find, for what it was worth,
Just bacteria lived on Earth.

Of coming to the U.S.A.
Impossible as it did seem,
She wrote and buried hopes away.
She became a mother and wife,
And fate did bring her family
To the U.S. to a new life,
Including a college degree -
An agriculture doctorate.
How far that little girl did go,
Far far from that African hut.
Oh how that little girl did grow.

Oprah's all time favorite guest,
Tererai Trent fulfilled her quest.

Dear Ritz Carlton: I read the note
The economics prof sent you.
Academics do love to dote
On giving back too much ado.
In the words, "giving back," there is
No one way to surely define.
Could be some guilt, could be good biz,
Could be just sharing some of mine
With some of those who need it more,
Remembering back when I had
Such need, and others were there for
Me. Your giving back is not bad.

I know some taking makes you scowl,
So I'm giving you back your towel.

Oil and Onions

The evil speculators are
Making the price of gas sky high.
Each time that I fill up the car,
I watch the dollars climb, and cry
"Oh nanny state where art thou now?'
Onions were once upon a time
Price speculated on somehow,
So big gov deemed that a high crime,
And set the onion prices free
From the nasties who speculate.
So oil like onions soon will be
Saved from bad speculators fate.

Now onion prices wildly jump,
Something to ponder at the pump.

Chauvet Cave

The Chauvet Cave, where long ago
The cave bears came to hybernate.
Their scratches on the cave walls show
Nature's canvas to decorate.
As later, human painters came
And painted tributes to the bears
And to some other beasts of fame,
Leaving artful extraordinaires.
The footprints of a human child
Show walking about the cave floor,
Perhaps the last to be beguiled
By the depictions left before.

A rockslide left the cave concealed.
Centuries pass until revealed.

The Beat Goes On

We're called flash mobs on the attack,
When we are referred to at all.
And few are apt to call us black,
Since that is not a p.c. call.
As long as we beat up on folk
Who do not matter to the brass,
We'll keep punchlining this same joke,
While city hall just covers ass.
Call it the new reality,
Without media hype and spin.
Wrong time, wrong place and there we be,
Changing the color of your skin.

You think it won't happen to you?
More and more likely that we do.

I worked for him in Illinois,
And followed him to Washington.
With army troops I did deploy
To keep the rebels on the run.
I was returned a casualty.
In the White House, I laid in State.
He came to bid farewell to me,
To mourn my consequence of fate.
He was but one man who yet must
Carry all the burdens of war.
I might have been his first loss thrust
On him, but he'd bear many more.

I called the President my friend,
And he wept for me at my end.

Royally Vow

We, Kate and Wills solemnly vow
To try to live a normal life,
In spite of the Queen's furrowed brow.
Just be a happy prince and wife.
A country cottage will be home.
We'll do the way of simple folk,
Each day a very own love poem.
And when the Queen and Charles do croak,
We'll go to Buckingham to do
The duty thing as king and queen,
But still do vow to remain true
To us as stars of the royal scene.

With so much love within our hearts,
Till death or divorce do us parts.

Swiss This

Switzerland's system of health care
Would seem to be a model that
Could well serve the common welfare
Of the U.S. as copy cat.
Let the individual pick
From private competitive plans.
Value and choice for any sick,
Worth a try that reform demands.
Has the U.S. gotten too big
To take ideas from the small?
Keep doing the nanny state jig
And the U.S. is gonna fall.

Health care is working for the Swiss.
Is the U.S. too full for this?
