Wake Up or Not

With my tax refund I spent green,
And bought me a new alarm clock
Which was powered with gasoline,
A weird way to run a tick tock.
The government's Energy Star
Gave it eco-friendly approved.
What the heck! I got from my car
Some gas, and got the new clock grooved,
And revved up ready to go live,
Its engine humming right on track.
Buttons were pushed and set for five.
I was tired so I hit the sack.

When the alarm sounds, up I'll burst,
Unless the gas fumes get me first.
