Sense Sonnet - Chiller

The Drake Passage

Crossing the Passage in a boat,
Manned by some humans on a quest.
Named for Sir Francis who did float
Through centuries past in true test
Of the human need to know
Nature's secrets in all the world.
There is no place humans won't go,
Facing all wrath that nature's hurled.
Sir Francis' senses helped his search,
No computer technology
Bungee corded against the lurch.
Now man and machine sail the sea.

Investigating glacial melt,
Nature's upheavals still are felt.
