Esther, beautiful woman who

The king of Persia chose to be

His queen, not knowing she, a Jew,

Would change his mind eventually.

The Persian Jews faced greatest strife,

Slaughter in the name of the king.

Esther, in risking her own life,

Pled not to do such awful thing.

Esther had prayed to God to give

Her strength of purpose to persuade

The king to let her people live.

Her prayers answered, her saving made.
