 Just the Way Life Is

So very young were Grace and I,

When I came to her family.

Her Mom, good gal, her Dad, good guy,

It was a happy home for me.

Together, Grace and I grew up.

She always calls me her best friend.

At home where Grace is, is this pup.

Always together had to end.

Grace finished high school and came time

When Grace left for the college scene.

It's just the way life is that I'm

Old, she's young, both age seventeen.

Let me close with this epilogue,

Life is good for this grateful dog.
