He started with it, young and lean,

Became a star in this show biz,

Doted on each dramatic scene.

From T.V. to the movies, he

Went with the show where no one had

Gone before in celebrity.

Uniform in which he was clad

Rose in rank and in waistline girth,

As the many decades went by.

In space weighed less than weighed on Earth,

Older he got, heavier guy.

And though he's built up quite a paunch,

Captain Kirk is still out to launch.
