Sense Sonnet - Acher
Destined to Serve
Though I did die I'm happy that
Some human minds and hands changed me,
And now in human habitat,
Useful to human family.
I understand the human need
To kill my kind, and then to change
Us into what's deemed good indeed
For human use, not new or strange,
Forever destiny of wood.
I feel quite fortunate that my
Remains be changed to something good,
A fine and strong wood table, I.
Of service now to human folk,
Once I lived as a mighty Oak.
