The Dutch artist, Johannes Vermeer,

Lived in Delft along with his wife.

Downturn in his painting career

Caused him a lot of stress and strife.

Eleven living children had,

Sole support from him they did need.

Then the economy turned bad.

The Vermeers suffered, yes indeed.

Sell more his paintings, Johanne tried,

But outside Delft he was unknown.

Deeply depressed, and then he died,

His family left on their own.

Stress and strife of debt ridden be,

Johannes did die, age 43.
