Sense Sonnet - Acher

 You Were My Future

When you were born to me, I said

You were my future that I would

Watch grow and love until I'm dead.

And when I died, I could feel good,

Knowing that you would carry on,

A lot like me in many ways,

And remember when I was gone,

All our many wonderful days.

But then came sad day you did die,

A truth so hard be reconciled

Within me, as I wonder why

This Mom had to outlive her child.

Whatever future I have, be

Emptier without you with me.
