Sense Sonnet - Acher

Alzheimer's Attack

Somehow, somewhere, sometime there will
For Alzheimer's be found a cure,
But not before so many ill
Have more suffering to endure,
As those who care can only watch
A quality of life erode
Into a senseless, numbless blotch,
Just awaiting death be bestowed.
If history a teacher be,
We rally round going to war.
Alzheimer's is the enemy.
A cure is what we must fight for.

Yes, hope and history can rhyme.
But we must help. Now is the time.
