Sense Sonnet - Pumper

Norma Talmadge

Norma Talmadge - that was my name,
A roaring twenties movie star.
The silent films made me my fame.
Talkies made me hardy har har,
Because my glamour did not fit
Well with my flat Brooklyn accent.
So I just said the heck with it,
Took my money, and off I went.
Hollywood tried to do me mean.
Norma in Sunset boulevard,
That grotesque silent movie queen
Mocked me as a weirdo once starred.

Star tradition - my accident,
Grauman's - I stepped in wet cement.
