Beyond the Boy

Ryan White lived and died with A.I.D.S.
The youngster was the pioneer
Who upfront faced the barricades
Of human ignorance and fear,
Found within his own neighborhood.
Ryan took the taunts and shuns,
And he turned them from bad to good.
He was the heart of the chosen ones.
In the few years, before he died,
Ryan grew beyond time and place,
And gave his hope and strength worldwide -
Gave A.I.D.S. a sharing, smiling face.

Ryan did not get to enjoy
The time of being just a boy.
