George Reeves became a household name
During the early T.V. years.
The Superman role gained him fame -
Fleeting in Hollywood careers.
Cancelled after four seasons run,
The series had worn George enough.
Glad that it was over and done,
George was ready for better stuff.
But, he soon learned that it was hard
To overcome a typecast role.
The final part in which he starred
Was out of work, out of control.

"Good night," were the last words he said,
Then put a bullet through his head.
