Sense Sonnet - Pumper

 Wooing Season

Sprightly I've come from underground,

This male cicada springs out on

My gossamer wings and be bound

For my mating phenomenon.

An iridescent body hued

Onyx with long orange legs I sport.

Big red eyes from my head protrude.

I'm quite a colorful assort,

Attractive to the female eye.

More important, the female ear,

My competition's crushed if I

Sing at my best for her to hear.

I pass along my yearn to sing

To all the males of my offspring.
