Sense Sonnet - Acher
My Mommy
A single Mommy, she birthed me,
And gave me all the love she could.
The two of us together be,
Any time, anyplace, always good.
In urban ghetto we did live,
But Mommy had street smarts, and so,
All that I needed, she did give.
And through the years with her I'd grow,
And I did well enough, day came,
Off to a good college went I.
But then the hardest fate took aim,
Mommy was killed in a drive by.
My Mommy left too soon for sure,
But left the best in me of her.
