Sense Sonnet - Acher
Life's a Gamble
The aging Colonel and his wife
Become poorer with every day.
Under martial law, a hard life,
As finances dwindle away.
They lost their only son when killed
By the government, they received
A small estate to them he'd willed,
Now spent to live on as they grieved.
Their son's favorite rooster be
All that's left to remind the two
Of their son, now just memory.
The Colonel frets, what can he do!
The Colonel hopes to ease their plight,
Teaching the rooster how to fight.
