Sense Sonnet - Acher

Last in Space

Outer space, called the last frontier,
The U.S. had to beat the world,
To race into the stratosphere,
And stick the Stars and Stripes unfurled.
Been there, done that and what's the worth?
Bragging rights will not solve the mess
The U.S. has made here on Earth,
Getting more and more powerless.
The private sector should seek out
Others with the cash and the will.
The Chinese top that list - no doubt.
Some dreams only some can fulfill.

The U.S. is losing the race
Stagnating in its inner space.
