Sense Sonnet - Tickler

In the End - What Counts

A pious pastor had just died.
He and a cabbie stood in line.
The pastor boasted in swelled pride,
That he would be preferred divine.
An angel came and led away
The cabbie through the Pearly Gate.
The pastor wondered in dismay
Why he of all souls had to wait.
He asked another angel, "Why"
"Pick the cabbie for heaven's sake?"
"You preached - folks slept," was the reply.
"The cabbie kept them wide awake."

"With him, converts were ready made."
"When people rode with him - they prayed."
