Sense Sonnet - Acher

 Stranger to Them

My kids all reach that age of roam

Around our house in world their own.

To them, I'm stranger in our home,

And to my kids a force unknown.

Constantly, they remind me of

How unfair a person is me,

That other kids' parents they love.

Why can't like such parents I be?

And so the battle lines get drawn.

My kids fight guerilla warfare,

A frustrating phenomenon,

I'm enemy who doesn't care.

My kids grow out of their mayhem,

No longer stranger I'm to them.
