Sense Sonnet - Steamer
Triumph to a Point
When young, my best friend and I met,
Friendly competing a prime aim
Between us on a dare and a bet.
The two of us so loved this game.
And so when she came on the scene,
My best friend and I rivalled for
Which one she loved more, 'twixt and 'tween,
As we both wooed her, keeping score.
During this time we both did learn
She was not lovable at all.
Not her, but was the game we'd yearn.
Which of us, victory to call?
Bested my best friend, got my wife,
The worst besting of my whole life.
