 Crawford Path

In 1819 was the year,

New Hampshire White Mountains, the place,

The Crawford Path was cut through here

By Crawford family to pace

Through the White Mountains forth and back.

Eight and one half miles, and this trail

Ever since for hike and backpack.

Continuous use to avail

For such until today, so is

Deemed oldest used trail in U.S.

And still a scenic route, gee whiz,

So hikers please don't be careless.

Now government run, trail is free

To hike, but to park costs a fee.
