Sense Sonnet - Acher

 My Pine Tree

Mom and Dad let me plant a tree,

A pine near the new home we bought

On acreage in the rural country.

For years we stayed, loved it a lot.

My pine tree grew up, so did I.

When I left for college I went

To my pine tree and said goodbye,

For one last look and one last scent.

After, my folks chose to retire,

They moved away to a new state.

My childhood home burned in a fire.

My pine tree suffered the same fate.

I brought my son and daughter back

To plant new trees near mine charred black.
