 Crown of Thorns

When Jesus was condemned to die,

Humiliating pain to bring

A crown of thorns on his head by

Soldiers mocking Jesus as king.

To his crucifixion went he,

Crown of thorns Jesus forced to wear.

Holy symbol it came to be

Of suffering Jesus did bear.

The crown of thorns was left behind

As Jesus died, reborn to live

For redemption of humankind,

Ever for our sins to forgive.

Jesus Christ, no crown does he need,

Ever King of Glory indeed.
