The term, "gobsmack," is British slang

Meaning astonish or astound,

And so suddenly upon sprung

That one might be left speechless bound.

"Gob" is slang word for mouth, and "smack"

Being a verb that means "to hit."

So a hit in the mouth attack

Is literal gobsmack, to wit

I was so flabbergasted when

I was gobsmacked literal way

By her fist coming at my chin.

There was nothing that I could say.

The wife gobsmacked me recently,

And speechless her right hook left me.
