 Arachne

Arachne, young Greek mortal girl,

Had magnificent weaving skill.

At goddess Athena she'd hurl

Superior boasts which did instill

Great offense in Athena who

Did order a weaving contest

To decide better of the two.

Wise Athena knew that the best

Weaver was Arachne but she

Was enraged that a mortal would

Dare to defy divinity.

Arachne's weaving was too good.

So Athena would not abide her,

Turned Arachne into a spider.
