Sense Sonnet - Pumper

 Minoan Snake Goddess

The Minoan snake goddess of

Island of Crete  would each year wed

A young god consort she would love

Till year end when he would be dead,

Then reborn next year to begin

Another fruitful cycle that

Was like a snake shedding its skin,

"Rebirth" in nature's habitat.

Each death and rebirth of the god

Would be how the snake goddess would

Makes seasons, worshippers could laud

When harvesting season be good.

The Minoan snake goddess be

Protecting good fertility.
