Many a year we've taken walks

Through all kinds of weather outside.

And we have shared so many talks.

Of course he knows I like to guide,

Stopping for this or that to check.

In early times impatient he

Seemed when I stopped, but what the heck,

He knew curious I do be.

But now lately I've noticed that

He doesn't mind the stops so much.

In fact he sits while we are at

Where I am sniffing such and such.

Not the stamina this dog's got,

Old humans have to rest a lot.
