Youth at Risk

When my buddies and I got to
High school, we joined the football team.
My folks were sure that this would do
Me good all round so it did seem.
But then my folks got worried that
Too many kids were getting hurt.
I had to quit they said out flat.
My friends called me a sissy squirt.
The golf team then was what I chose.
The folks were okay with that call,
Being safe from all the head blows.
But boy I sure did miss football.

A golf ball struck me in the head.
Doc says I'm lucky I'm not dead.
