Coach Joe Paterno gets let go
From Penn State and his football team,
After decades of being so
Legendary in a sports dream.
Told of an alleged child abuse,
Occurring in the locker room,
Joe apparently did deduce
To sweep it upstairs with his broom.
To cover up, upstairs then chose,
And Joe left well enough alone.
Years later, when the whole world knows,
The scandal takes Joe as its own.

A lifetime of accomplishment
Tarnished by one fell short event.
