Beginning a new century,
The American dream lived on,
Nine eleven oh one to be
A national nightmare upon.
Terrorists came to the homeland,
With planes as weapons, thousands died.
The nation forced to understand
What is felt when attacked inside.
We, the people, gave support to
The powers that be to wage war.
It was what the nation could do.
It was what destiny called for.
