Comedy Syndrome

Having Down syndrome should not be
In and of itself for a joke.
But humans try to be funny
At the expense of other folk.
A person with Down syndrome should
Be able to be human too,
And tell a joke that's bad or good,
Because that's what we humans do.
And public persons oft are used
As punching bags for joke punch lines.
No doubt this ploy is oft abused.
Funny or not, we know the sign.

Those who are in the public eye
Must choose to outlaugh or outcry.
