Sense Sonnet - Pumper

Tried and True

At first the Pilgrims in distress,
Poured forth their gloom and discontent
In fasting prayer to the excess,
Lending to a give it up bent.
Then a farmer of unknown name
Proposed a shift in attitude.
Lay off the gripes, instead proclaim
True thanks to the Almighty Dude.
And so Thanksgiving came to be,
And still remains in modern day.
An awesome reminder to me
To stop complaining when I pray.

When I take my stuff to God's ear,
Thanksgiving is what God should hear.
