Sense Sonnet - Steamer

Gone with the Wind

It was a family heirloom,
An exquisite engagement ring.
Being the soon hope to be groom,
I wanted such a proposing
That would make my girlfriend just swoon.
So I put the ring inside of
A bright, white helium balloon,
That she'd pop, as I popped my love.
But, as I got out of the car,
The wind blew the balloon away.
In vain, I chased it near and far.
Ringless, I faced my fiancee.

She's still not speaking to me,
Until that ring's on her pinky.
