Sense Sonnet - Tickler

Pause of Course

A golf foursome of us were at
The first tee. I was up to hit.
On the street nearby, I saw that
There was a procession, to wit,
Led by a funeral hearse, so
I paused and took off my cap,
As the hearse etal. went by slow.
Then, swinging my club with a snap,
I struck the ball determinedly,
Down the fairway, almost perfect.
One of my foursome said to me,
"That was nice how you showed respect."

I replied, "My wife, Mary Sue,"
"It was the least that I could do."
