Sense Sonnet - Pumper

First Thanksgiving Food

The first Thanksgiving feast, they say,
Was a modest and simple fare;
Not all the stuff eaten today;
Just what was hunted and grown there.
Wild venison and fowl were served;
Cranberries, but not sugar sweet.
All finger foods, but not hor d'oeurved -
No utensils with which to eat.
Pumpkins, but no butter or crust.
No tables, so the ground was used.
Fermenting grains was not a must.
So no alcohol was abused.

Going to church was the main thing.
No football that first Thanksgiving.
