Sense Sonnet - Steamer

Because

It was just a bottle of pop
I was drinking, walking to class.
Without thinking, I let it drop
From the side of the overpass.
Underneath on the interstate,
I watched as one car spun around.
Other cars tried to swerve too late.
I ran, but still could hear the sound.
The awful sound of forced impact
Of glass and metal, flesh and bone -
All exploding in fiery fact,
'Cause of a bottle I had thrown.

"Tragic car pileup," the news said,
"Cause not yet known - forty five dead."
